3rd Trimester

1st tri exhaustion returning?

I didn't have this with DS, is this pretty common?  I feel like there is no real reason to be as tired as I am b/c I sometimes sneak in a nap when DS naps and I feel really comfortable physically at this point.  It's been a whole week of pure exhaustion, especially by the end of the day.

Re: 1st tri exhaustion returning?

  • I have been sleeping for 12 hours 3 or 4 times a week. I am exhausted, but I also my job is physically exhausting.

  • I dont really feel tired, but my entire body just feels exhausted.  I can never sleep enough, and no matter what, if I lay down, I can always fall asleep.

The entire first tri...... I slept, went to work, took a nap, made dinner, went back to bed.... EVERY SINLGE DAY.... I had a burst of energy and could have stayed up for days between like week 16 and 28... but, now I am getting exhausted again!

  • I don't remember being this tired in 1st tri. I'm a teacher and 1st tri was during the summer, but I was sleeping well then, so maybe that's why I don't feel exhausted.

I'm very tired now. Like PP said, it doesn't seem like I can sleep enough. But I wake up every hour to change positions and sometimes I have a hard time falling back asleep. So then though I'm going to bed for 9 hours, I'm not sleeping that long. I'm not a napper. I just can't sit still like that in the middle of the day. So I've been avoiding watching TV in the evening because I know it will put me to sleep. I go to sleep at 10 pm, but I read until 10:30-11 to completely unwind. Then I wake up at 8. I get home from school by 4:30 and I am beat. I haven't had energy to cook, clean, go food shopping, etc. DH has really stepped up, which is nice.

I've heard that if you're really tired it could be due to iron levels. So maybe mention it to your ob or MW at your next appt.

  • I just woke up from a nap! I mean I know it's definitely common for it to come back in 3rd tri, but I didn't experience it with DS either. I think a lot has to do with having a toddler to chase around this time.

  • I'm exhausted all the time.  I'm a SAHM and I'm sure chasing a 2 1/2 year old has a lot to do with it.  Add in the fact that I can't sleep from having to pee, hip pain, restless legs, heartburn, and DH getting called to work during the night or coming home from work...  Plus DS hasn't slept through the night in 3 months now, and has stopped napping (which makes for a tired, cranky toddler), so I feel like I'm barely scraping by.  I am not sure if it's harder now or with a toddler and a newborn, guess I'll soon see.  :)
  • Iam soooooo tired today I can not wake up. I haven't felt this bad since a week after getting my bfp. Hopfully I don't spend the rest of my pregnancy this tired.

  • My sleeping pattern is crazy! I fall asleep around midnight or 1 am, then wake up every 2 hours. Then I wake up from 530-730 or 8 then sleep from 830am to 1pm. Obviously not every day since I have a job, but on days where I don;t have to teach until 4pm, this is what happens. I can't wait to sleep an entire night through!
