Stay at Home Moms

DH got a day in MY shoes!

So, DH had the day off today.  I had my MOPS group this morning so Micah stayed home with Daddy so that he could take his nap.  We're trying to transition him to his crib for naps and I thought DH would have success b/c he's usually better at getting Micah to sleep than I am.  The plan was for me to run to the grocery store after MOPS to buy the stuff we need for Micah's baptism party.  I kind of figured Micah would be asleep almost the entire time I was gone so I didn't have to worry about him needing to be fed (I still EBF and I had some BM in the fridge, but I would much rather feed him myself and save the BM for this weekend).  Well, this morning I woke up and I have an eye infection so I had to make an appointment to go to the doctor.  So, I had just enough time to come home from the grocery store, feed Micah, and head to the doctor.

I talked to DH while I was at the grocery store and he had finally just gotten Micah to sleep.  He slept for about 1 1/2 hours.  Then, he finally got him down for his afternoon nap around 3:30, but he only slept for 1/2 hour.  When I came home the house was a MESS!  Seriously, the laundry basket with the clean towels was still lying out, the clean cloth diapers were in their bag, waiting to be stuffed, dishes were all over the counter, and DH was still in his pajamas.  He keeps telling me he appreciates what I do even more now.  Especially because within an hour of being home, I fed Micah, stuffed the diapers, folded the laundry, sorted the mail, and did a quick pick up of the living room.

I love days like today where they realize just how much work staying home can be! Big Smile

  • That's awesome.  I work one Sunday a month and DH gets them all to himself that day.  It keeps his appreciation in check, too.

  • That's one of the best things about the performing I do.  I have rehearsals on evenings and weekends (only occasionally - I don't perform enough for it to be a constant).  My hubby gets to spend all that time being the primary caregiver, and I always come home to a litany of "thank you's".  Although, usually, he's pretty good about picking up and taking care of stuff.  I kinda wish he wouldn't, though, because I can never find anything when he puts it 'away'. :)
