Tricks to get baby to take/swallow antibiotic?

DD did fine with the pink antibiotic if I didn't refridgerate it (it said on the side you didn't have to).  Unfort. her ear infections haven't cleared up so now she's on a stronger one which must be refridgerated (and now it's white- maybe orange flavored?).  She keeps spitting it out.  I've tried to just do little doses on the side of her mouth (while laying flat on the changing pad) and that seems to get most of it in there.  Any other suggestions??

  • Try blowing gently on her face to get her to swallow.

This.  What you are doing is good too!

  • Cefdinir?  It doesn't come with flavoring automatically like ammoxicillian does, but they can put a flavor in it.  I would call the pedi, have her resend the prescription, and ask for it to be flavored when you pick it up.  They can recommend which flavor goes best with the medicine.
