34 weeker weight gain

My 34 weeker has been home for a couple of days over two weeks.  Since he's been home he has gained 2 lbs 8 ounces.  That's 2-3 ounce weight gain a day. 
My doctor and nurses seem suprised by this rapid weight gain, but I am not feeding him any more than anyone else on here with babies of similar age.  Is there going to be a time that his weight gain evens out, or is he going to continue to grow at this rate for a while?

Thats great to hear LO is doing so well! Little man was a 34 weeker and came home 4 pounds 11 ounces. Hes been growing like crazy since.

Our little guy was like that. He was born at 35 weeks and was 4 1/2lbs at birth. He wasn't on the normal growth charts at all. Not even close. He seemed to gain fast and by 4 months he was in the 15th. Then he kind of lingered there until about a year. He just recently had another jump into the 20th.

It is wonderful, he came home in preemie cloths and now he's in 3 months haha.  It is just the opposite of what I was told would happen, and if you don't worry, what is there to do right?

Most of his gain has been in the past two weeks! I don't know the answer to your question but I thought I would share my experience with you. I'm just happy we are in newborn clothing!

So I went back and looked at our growth chart because your question had me interested. It looks like DS gained about 1.5- 1.75 oz. per day. I read that most babies double their birth weight by 4 months. It looks like he tripled his. So, I guess he didn't grow quite as fast as you are describing, though it seemed like it!! But, he did grow quickly and then leveled out for quite awhile- to answer your question. All kids are so different- I certainly wouldn't worry! It's a great thing he is doing so well.
