:-( My Etsy Purchase is not arriving in time for Libby's Birthday Party!

I ordered a custom hat, tutu and bib for the party...ordered it on January 4th so it would be here in time. And it was $$$ but I did it because you only have ONE first birthday, right? Seller overnighted it via FedEx LAST NIGHT and due to weather it won't be delivered to me until MONDAY. Crying

So now I am bundling up Libby so we can head out in the snow to Michael's and JoAnn fabrics to slap something together for her. I am so bummed.

Re: :-( My Etsy Purchase is not arriving in time for Libby's Birthday Party!

  • Oh Lori, I'm so sorry!  This is probably the last thing you need right now with all of tomorrow's planning and logistics.  I know you're both creative and resourceful.  If anyone can find something it's you.  Smile

Have you done Libby's 1 year photos yet?  If not, you should definitely use your Etsy purchases during the photo shoot.  Maybe even do a (cup)cake smash so she can use her bib!

  • that is a bummer!!

Let me know if you have any questions when you make it - I made my niece something very similar for her 1st bday.

  • i'm so sorry :(

i know it says to expect 2-3 wks for an item to ship but if you told her ahead of time that you needed it by Jan 22 for Libby's 1st birthday party, i don't think she should have waited until the very last minute to get it done and sent out, even if she planned to front the extra cost of expedited shipping.... b/c, as in this case, you never know what may happen and can't depend on shipping carriers to always deliver when they say they will. I know she can't control the weather but IMO she should have sent it no later than Wed to allow for any kind of delay, esp if she knew you needed it by Sat.  so sorry she did this to you :(

but, I am sure that you'll still come up with or find something super cute for Libby for tomorrow :) and you can use the etsy items for her upcoming photo shoot (don't you still have a cake smash to do?)

  • Boooo! I'm sorry. Sad I'm sure she'll look adorable no matter what!
  • awww Sad  i'm sorry, that sucks!  I agree, she should have sent it earlier Sad  i'm sure you'll come up with something great, and i can't wait to see how everything comes together for the party - you've put to much thought and effort into it!  I'm sure it will be fabulous, no matter what libby is wearing!

  • Thanks ladies. Yeah, before I ordered from her I confirmed that I'd have in my hands by January 20th. I wrote to her this week to confirm those plans and she said not to worry she'd overnight it via FedEx. Well...Wednesday came and went and so did Thursday. Finally, TODAY she sent me the FedEx tracking number. We had snow yesterday so I thought that might be why it was delayed (like it was here in town and just not able to be trucked to my house)...well...I called FedEx and it's still sitting at the facility in MO where she dropped it off yesterday. ARG.

Anyway, my mom came home and watched Libby. I went to Michaels and got the supplies and came home and we whipped up one sparkly yellow hat with red maribou trim and ribbon embellishments. Not the embroidered hat I hat hoped for, but it's cute none-the-less. Rather than make a tutu I just got a white petti from the party store's costume section and called it a night. Thankfully, I ordered a customized tee from another Etsy seller and got that WEEKS ago, so she still has something 'special' for the big day!

  • Awww I'm sorry :(

But I'm glad you were able to make something for her and I am sure Libby will look absolutely adorable on her 1st birthday!!! :)

THIS!! Ooooh, I am so steamed just reading this. I am SOOO sorry you have to deal with this. I actually told the Etsy/other venders I used for Alexa's bday that I needed it on the Thurs before the Sat party because I am paranoid like that. Arg. Like pp said, if you have not done her 1st bday photos, def wait and use that outfit! Sounds like you have whipped up a very cute replacement outfit tho! I have no doubt she'll look cute no matter what!

  • Oh no Lori, I'm so sorry this happened, how unfortunate :(

On a different note I am so excited to see the photos of Libby's first birthday!  I'm sure everything will be fabulous and that she'll look beyond adorable!

  • Oh no! =*( You ordered it way in advance too--she should've shipped it out sooner!

But I agree with pp's on using it for her photoshoot. She will still look soo adorable in it! And I'm glad your mom was able to watch her while you got another one for her! I'm sure that it will look fantastic and I can't wait to see pics of her first bday! Wishing her a happy birthday and a great party!

I did this too. I asked everyone to have their stuff to me by January 20th at the latest. Everything came in except this order, which was the piece de resistance. Anyway, it's life. Next time, I'll know to order in November....the issue I had this year was by the time I was ready to really get to planning it was Christmas and everyone was on holiday. So I placed my orders on January 4th.
  • That's too bad.  :(  I haven't had great luck with a few etsy sellers, either.  A hat that I ordered for a photo shoot (6 weeks before the shoot, with a 2-4 week estimated delivery) arrived a whopping 2 months after the fact.  And she claimed she would refund my money, since it didn't even fit him at that point, but I never saw that money.  Come to think of it....thanks for reminding me, I do need to go and write a "lovely" review for that!

I'm sure Libby will look adorable no matter what!

if you told her you needed it by Jan 20th and she only shipped it out on the 20th then that is unacceptable and worthy of a negative review in her etsy shop, IMO.

anyway, can't wait to see miss Libby in her bday outfit it sounds like you found some cute stuff to replace it! :)

ABSOLUTELY. Depending on if you plan to use it for photos, you have every right to ask for a FULL refund, including shipping. She did not fullfill her end of the "contract of sale." Depending on if you used checking or credit to pay, you could also dispute it with your credit card. Or dispute it with PayPal.
