Success after IF

***jodynjames2005***

Thanks so much for responding to my post last week regarding PGD with in vitro.  I saw your blog and it looks like it didn't work when you did the PGD...and that you opted not to do it the 2nd time around?  What was involved differently between the 2 times...except for the testing itself, did it really just mean you had to wait 2 extra days to implant?  I meet with the genetic counselor next week so I don't really know much about it now, but i'd love if you could share anything on the process itself.  i'm a little nervous about everything.  Thanks!

  • We had no good reason to do PGD but thought that, if we were going to do IVF, we might as well go all out and select healthy embryos and choose the gender (they allowed me to do it since I already had children, they do not allow people without children to do that). For me, there was no difference to my cycle except that we transferred on day 5 the first time and day 3 the second. I ended up really doing better with a day 3 ET, but that's just me and my embies (largely influenced by the severity of DH's MFI). Otherwise, yup, it's really just that simple from the standpoint of the person doing it... a lot of magic goes on in the lab!

  • Good to know...so no extra stress except for the IVF really.  Now I have to make sure we find a super magical lab.  Thanks...and btw, your little girls are sooo cute!!
