Okay so I am 7 months pregnant and my son just turned two in December. He has been consistently napping almost 3 hours, two days ago 3.5 hours! But for the past two days he has been, for the first time ever, throwing his pillow and blanket out of his crib...he always sleeps with them so I know he's not going to sleep once he does that...what am I supposed to do?! So he hasn't taken a nap at all for the past two days, he's just sitting there (I have a video monitor fyi) If I go in then and put the stuff back in, I'm just reinforcing him to keep doing it so that I come in...any ideas?
Re: Shoot me now...napping issues, help!
Sorry, no ideas. My kid has never been a great napper, and now she won't take them at all when she's home with me on weekends. It's awful.
I would say, for you, maybe it's just a phase. You can always hope!
Well, I'll hope for your sake that it's a phase. But my DS gave up his 2-3 hour naps almost cold turkey right around his 2nd birthday. I had a brand new baby and it was pretty darn rough. I had a hard time accepting that he was done napping and think I made it harder on myself by getting super frustrated. If your DS is playing nicely, then leave him and let him play. Even after my DS stopped sleeping he still got 1-2 hours of "quiet time" (depending on how quiet he was) to help ease the transition.
Good luck!
