3rd Trimester

my first scary experience...

hi, I'm 34 weeks and I went to my regular OB appt yesterday morning and the baby's heartbeat was way too high and it wouldn't come down, so my doctor send me to triage in the hospital.  Once they hooked me up to the monitors they found that I was also contracting strong and often.   I was given 3 bags of IV and 3 doses of some shot that is to stop contractions.  It was so awful and scary.   Apparently the stomach virus I had gotten a couple of days before left me so dehydrated that my fluid was low and that's the reason they thing all this happened.   So ladies, make sure you drink plenty and plenty of fluids all the time.

Re: my first scary experience...

  • Thanks for the advice.  I am glad that everything is ok. I know that can be a scary experience. I had a scary experience myself on Monday.  I was at my weekly ultrasound (due to high blood pressure) and my LO didn't hardly move nor did he practice his breathing.  It took over 45 mins and then they gave up.  The doc called me and I was sent to the hospital for a non-stress test. He still wasn't very active and then after 15 mins they gave me ice water and he finally started to move around.  I was so scared.  I tell you our LO's do nothing, but scare us at times.  Yesterday he didn't move for almost 3 hours so it scared me yet again. I guess it's normal since it's close to my due date too.  Good luck!
