NBR: microsuede furniture... anyone?

Random question but just thought I would ask and see if anyone knew the answer....

We bought  a recliner chair on craigs list.... its amazing, perfect condition.

Its brown microsuede... anyways, we brought it home and on the way home, it started raining (it was in the bed of the pick up truck) we had put a tarp over it before we left thinking it might start raining, but when we got home, the entire chair was soaked!!!!!

We brought it inside and tried to pat it down with towels, and with the blow dryer, then just set the fan up in front of it and after about 1 hour, it felt completely dry... 

Well, now the problem is the fabric feels very rough!! Does anyone know if this is ruined, or how to get this rough feeling out of the fabric?

call a local furniture store and ask what to use...

we were told NOT to use a blow dryer b/c it melts the fibers and makes them rough.

but they still might have a great idea for you

also...pillowpets are made from microsuede and I learned my lesson w/ heat from those...I washed DSs and dried it in the dryer and it was hard and crunchy...I melted the suede

I actually googled it after I posted this and its said microsuede can become rough after cleaning it (or getting it wet) and that just like real suede, it needs to be brushed to bring back its softness.  Who knew you need to brush suede? haha

We are using a baby hair brush on it right now.... We will see how that works!

After I spot clean our couches I have to use the vaccume brush to get it back to normal.

My couch is made of this- it's a pain in the ass to spot clean b/c it shows where you've cleaned. I have to unzip my cushions and wash just the covers (despite it saying not to.) I cannot use heat on it either. Hopefully you didn't get to close with that blow drier....

I wash my microsuede couch with my spot bot to give it a new look.  It gives it that awful, hard feeling.  In desperation, I vacuumed it after with the brush attachment and it was like new again.  Brushing really does make the difference.

when microsuede gets wet it does feel rough once its dry, but you just need to rub it out and it will go back to the original soft feeling.
