South Florida Babies

I need help. Please!

I am depressed and can't stop crying. I'm sorry ladies. I have this dark cloud over me and I just need to talk. I am 3 months postpartum and I have a 19 month old.  My marriage is falling apart. I feel alone. I know I need help. I called my OB, but he was of no help.

I need a therapist, someone to help me get my mind right. Anyone know of a good one that takes medicaid.

Re: I need help. Please!

  • So sorry you are going through this. PP depression is rough and the fact you are asking for help is huge progress in the journey to getting better. I understand to some degree what you are going through and the first step, like you said, is to get help. What a shame your Ob didn't provide much help to you. I am not sure what area in SFla you are in but in Miami there is Dr. Heriberto Cabada, he is located on Ponce deLeon Blvd (google his name and info comes up). Not sure if he takes Medicaid but you can call and find out.

A few things that may help in the meantime... try to go out for fresh air, try to get involved in something you enjoy. Exercising also can be of benefit (for several reasons). Having 2 babies at home is not easy by any means..dedicating a little time to yourself can give you a new outlook. I know that the above is not easy to do when feeling this way but sometimes you have to give yourself a little push to feel better. If at any point your feelings worsen, please make sure to seek professional help immediately. Plus, communicating with your husband and possibly involving him in family therapy at some point may help mend some of the issues that have arisen.

I hope these feelings subside soon and that your life starts to come together once again.

  • Post partum mood disorders are unfortunately so common, but even more unfortunately under reported and under treated.  Ditto Albah the fact that you are reaching out for help is important.  Your OB's office really dropped the ball.  I'm so sorry that they did not support you.

I sent you a PM with a therapist's information it.  She specializes in post partum mood disorders as well as offers a free mother's circle every other Friday in Hollywood.  Talk to her if you need to bring your children to an appointment.

It can help to have a good therapist as well as a doctor to help you work through this.  Albah had some good interim suggestions, also getting some sunshine can help.

Please know that you are not alone.  You deserve to feel better and you will!  Please, please get help ASAP.  Best wishes to you and keep us updated.

  • Call medicaid and ask them for a mental health doctor. I have suffered depression and anxiety and I couldn't imagine going through it while taking care of a baby. I hope you feel better.

  • Thank you ladies for all of your support advise. It is nice to know there are people out there that care.

    Thanks again!

  • I don't have any suggestions for therapists that take medicaid but the others had good suggestions. I just wanted to tell you that I had PPD after my daughter was born also. I'm sorry your OB was of no help to you. You're definitely not alone. Good for you for recognizing that you need help.

    Keep us posted!!!
