Self-imposed ridiculousness

H and I are supposed to go out of town next weekend for a mini-vacation. The original plan was Vegas, but our main activities there revolve around food and alcohol. Shocking, I know. We realize that if this cycle is successful, I may already know that I'm pregnant when we're supposed to be there and H just doesn't  think we'd have as much fun I'm KU.

So, we switch the trip to a more pregnancy friendly (in our opinion) locale.

Skip to last night and both of us are independently wishing we were going to Vegas instead.   I just hope I find out one way or the other by next Wed b/c if I'm out this cycle, I think we're totally changing our plans last minute and heading to Vegas, where I will be consuming many a cocktail.

I swear, the ridiculousness of TTC never fails to boggle my mind.

If you can change your plans last minute (driving or flying?) then I would go to Vegas if I wasn't KU'ed. It's really only fun if you are drinking, eating, or out with a big group gambling.

We go to Vegas regularly, so yeah, I totally agree about it not being fun if you're pregnant. At least, not the way we do it. The other location is Palm Springs. Still fun, but just a more quiet, mellow kind of fun.

PS sounds great to me, pregnant or not! I haven't been, but always wanted to to a girls weekend there when I lived in Los Angeles. What is the weather like there right now? You can drink/party if not pregnant, or still have a good time chillin' if you are, right?

Oh definitely, I think we both just keep trying to squeeze in one last "pre-baby" vegas trip. We've now had about 3 "pre-baby" Vegas trips and well, still no baby. Ha! Weather in Palm Springs should be in the 70s, is my guess. We had a heat wave in So Cal last weekend, but I think we're back to normal temps, now.

I love Palm Springs. There's a lot to do that doesn't involve alcohol and bars. Have you been before?

DH and I are supposed to go to Napa in September. It's a pretty busy time of the year for them so we have to book early. I may be KU there and will just stay away from the wine! Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a blast

We have been and I agree, it's a lot of fun and we think, more conducive to having a good time even KU.

Btw, might I highly suggest Auberge du Soleil for lunch when you're in Napa. The food and view are both amazing! Oh, and Ad Hoc for dinner - fixed menu nightly, but everything is served family style and the food is amazing.

Thanks for the suggestions! DH has a friend that was the chef there a few years ago. We are actually debating staying at Calistoga Ranch when we go. It's Auberge du Soleil's sister property! We'll definitely check Ad Hoc out. DH wants to go when they have fried chicken night haha!

My husband and I had planned a Vegas vacation months and months in advance (his first, my third) for one of our 'last hurrahs' before we TTC.  We started the trying early and ended up getting a BFP 2 weeks before our trip.  I was sooooo nauseous almost the entire time and obviously couldn't drink and being around smokers made me want to gag.  

We still had a nice time but not nearly the fun we may have had if I wasn't sipping orange juice, ginger ale and feeling yuck.  

I ended up miscarrying just less than 2 weeks after our trip so now the whole thing has a sour taste for us---but we totally plan to go back some day/one day.

Now that my husband has been there, we decided we don't have to rush and get it in before LO's anymore, but we'll just take one of their Grandmas with us!

I felt so pathetic while we were in Vegas, thinking I might have been happier on our couch--sheesh!
