Dang gift cards...

I have this really bad habit of spending gift cards right away on baby items. A while back I had $30 to Amazon, and of course I bought a couple of small things right away, instead of saving it to add to others so I could buy something bigger, like the baby carrier we want, or a swing, etc. Today, someone gave me a $50 Target card, and I bought our Boppy pillow and some baby lotion I wanted that they don't carry in-store here. Someone stop me!! Argh!!! I haven't had ANY of my 3 showers yet, so almost certainly these things would have gotten purchased from our registries anyway...or, people will give me more gift cards that I combine for a big item. Grrrr, no self control here!

Well at least the boppy is something you will know that you will use.  The swing.... your baby might not like it, and you will still probably either receive it or plenty of gift cards toward it.

Sorry, I'm no help. I have a "use it or lose it" rule with gift cards. If I'd try to collect them to buy something big, I'd either forget where I stashed them, H would put them somewhere and not tell me, or my cat would drag them off to play with later.

So it's not so much "use it or lose it"... it's more of a "use it before it gets lost" thing.

I've been hanging on to a $100 Sears/K-mart gift card since a few weeks before Christmas, and it's KILLING me!!

I've had $200 in gift cards for BRU for months & I'm dying for my shower on Sunday so I know what I can go buy.

 

For those who lose them, I keep gift cards in those plastic credit card/photo holders with tiny post-its so I know how much is on them. Then I keep the holder in my purse so that when I'm out shopping, I always have them with me. It was really frustrating to go to a store and find something I loved only to realize I left my gift card at home somewhere.
