Hi Ladies-
Need some opinions-- DS has been coughing pretty hard since the weekend. Took him to the dr. on Tuesday (saw the NP, not the dr.)-- she checked him out and said it was just a cold. Prescribed that we continue with the nebulizer (albuterol and pulmacort) 4 times per day. On Tuesday he was not running a fever. Kept him home Tuesday and Wednesday, nebulized 4 times each day. His cough has improved a bit. Starting yesterday he was running a low grade fever-- 99.1-100.2 rectally. Gave him motrin and he cooled down. I did a neb treatment with him this morning and took him to daycare. Daycare just called and said his temp is running 102.4. It has NEVER been that high. I am suspecting this is more than a cold. I happen to have a follow up appt. scheduled for tomorrow morning with his dr. Would you take him to urgent care (pending he still have a fever when I take his temp) or would you give him motrin/tylenol and wait it out till tomorrow morning?
Just not sure what we should do! TIA!
Re: WWYD?: Suspecting RSV
we are currently experiencing something similar..DD has had a cough for a few days and a low grade fever the last 2days but last night her fever was like 104 (she has had higher and we managed to get it down without a pedi visit) but if she continues to have a fever ...we will be bringing her in
however, she has never had rsv or done treatments..so if your lo has I would maybe call...
hope he is better soon...I know how hard it is when they are sick
We had ours in to the pedi Friday morning after a lingering low grade fever and coughs developing (and the snot was out of control). They said it "sounded" like RSV and to call Saturday AM if we were still dealing with fevers. It was a yes, so we took them in that morning.
They did the nose swab and it turned out being RSV and all he was able to do was prescribe breathing treatments, and tell use to continue fluids, rest, and keeping them away from others.
Personally, I'd wait it out until the AM unless his fever ends up really high. If it's not and motrin helps, I'm a believer that sleep can be very beneficial.
