I can't read it without saying, "Ferdinand and Isabella," in my head. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think I could get around it to use it . . . unless I also had a daughter named Isabella, but then that would be cutesy and strange.
I like it and am not a huge fan of nicknames, but can't think of one. If it had more nickname accessibility maybe it would?
I know one Fernando who goes by Ferd on occasion. I think that would work for this too. Or Andy.
I know a few Fernandos (part of the reason I can't use Ferdinand myself due to how diff. it is from the Spanish version). Most go by their whole name, but one goes by "Nando," which I think could work for Ferdinand. It helps that "Nando" is a super cool guy, so I have very positive associations with the name.
I can't help but picture a parrot...I have no clue why. Are there lots of parrots named that in books or movies?
Interesting! I am trying to think of all the animals in the book "Tico Tango," but I don't think there's a parrot named Ferdinand. Please post again if you remember the book/movie!

Unless someone else comes up with something, I wouldn't worry... Google didn't find me any famous "Ferdinand the Parrot" and I kinda read a TON of crappy romance novels... i.e. Harlequin, each author puts out several books a month crappy, not even some best-seller like Danielle Steel.

Don't want to offend you but I think Ferdinand sounds like an old man, not a little baby!

You do realize that humans are only babies for a very, very short period of your lives, right?
