Success after IF

~*~alchris~*~

I was just looking over my posts from yesterday - I got distracted by work and didn't really bump at all in the afternoon! :)

Anyway, just saw that you asked about the original Amy Chua post. I was able to find it here: https://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/47619724.aspx

Re: ~*~alchris~*~

  • Thank you very, very much!  I knew I was last to respond yesterday (seeing as I was at a meeting specifically about this article and reactions to it, LOL), so I wasn't sure if you'd see it or not!

Very thoughtful responses, I think.  Indeed it's not black and white -- I agree that middle ground is key.  For those who wondered, that was just an excerpt from her book; indeed more did follow that was more middle ground!

    Thanks again!

  • Yeah, I actually saw her response to the reaction to her article (too many prepositions?) in the wsj and she was very measured. She also pointed out that she was not the one who chose the title for her excerpt. Add that to the fact that she changed course along the way and she doesn't seem quite SO bad.
  • Yep. :)  But even taken for what it is, I still think it's worth pondering to the extent that she clearly loved her girls and expected highly of them...she just showed it in a way that most of us would never support, but there's something to be said for high expectations too as many of the comments here (a surprising number to me, in fact) noted last week....

    Thanks again!
