I work fo a small private company in Dutchess County (under 15 employees). Can someone tell me how you go about applying for temporary disability while out on maternity leave.
To answer your question about where to get info on NYS disability if you do not have a Human Resource Dept you can google NYS disability and it will bring you to a link. NYS disability is for 6-8 weeks depending on your delivery. If you have a normal delivery it is usually for 6 weeks and if you have a c-section it is usually 8 weeks. The statutory NYS DBL coverage is for 50% of your average weekly wage up to a max. of $170(yes they tax you on the little amount). I recently have written emails to our governor of NY, Kristen Gilibrand, President Obama and a few others regarding maternity leave in NY and this country. Maybe if you are not happy with the amount we get for NYS disability for maternity leave you can send an email as well and get our voices heard.
Re: SHort Term Disability
I would love to know the answer to this question as well, I am pretty much in the same boat.
Also is there anyway to find out what you will be paid for short term disability and how long it lasts for?
