We are still using T's Chicco Keyfit30 in my car. She is well in the weight range but is exactly 30". She doesn't seem cramped or anything so I am wondering what we are risking by keeping her in it. The shoulder straps look fine. Her feet do stick out a little. We do have a Combi Zeus 360 in my DHs Yukon XL that I trying not to have to move to my KIA just yet. TIA

Re: Infant carrier?
Charlie is also in his Chicco Keyfit 30, so I have no answers to you on this. But it's time for us to start thinking about it as well. He's no where near 30 pounds, but it's probably the height that's going to get us.
Pedi appt next week.. we'll be talking about the next step.
We just got the My Ride 65 but haven't put it in the car yet. we went out to dinner last night, and M seems scrunched in his Snugride 32. We can't even get the straps around him if he is wearing a coat. It's definitely time for us to make the switch.
Risks? I don't know. In our case, it's all about his comfort.
Is her head less than 1" from the top of the seat? It's the torso height that's important, the legs are fine past the end of the seat. Look at the pic in this link:

If the straps are still able to be adjusted properly, then you should be fine. To be sure, I would take her and the seat to a car seat clinic. Too bad you weren't closer, my dh could have done it for you!
ETA: Risks...from what I just looked up, if she were too heavy, it would cause the seat to malfunction. The sudden stoppage would make the seat twist in a manner that would make the seat recoil improperly and cause injury (I was too chicken to watcht the video). Rear-facing, the child is supposed to be pushed back into the seat, and then the seat recoils into the seat back it's facing. For children whose head is less than 1" from the top, when the infant seat recoils into the seat back, it will catch the top of their head causing injury (yikes). HTH!
Thanks! I think she is fine for a while longer. Here is a picture from Jan 5th. It would be very fun to live closer. I'm not sure about all the cold up there. I bet it is beautiful. Trees are very sparse and the land is flat in my part of TX.
Looks like more than 1", so yeah, you're good for a while longer!
Can't complain too much about the cold. We're in a weird weather pocket....it doesn't see as much cold and snow as most parts do (yay Chinooks- shorts in January)! There are a ton of Texans here because of the oil industry and they said it's not bad and the landscape reminds them of home. It's pretty flat and treeless too, except you can see that the farmers have been putting in tree breaks! We just don't have the heatwaves you would. Here's the view at the edge of town (late Oct):
She is such a little peanut still! Awww....
