First off, thank you all so much for the T&P. They are so greatly appreciated.
Today has been quite the day. I've had a really bad past few days and last night spoke with one of the on call OBs. She prescribed me another medication and was going to talk to my OB first thing this morning and set up another game plan. A few days ago, my OB had said he wanted to admit me if I went more than 8 hours without peeing. As of this morning I had gone well over 24 hours. So this morning I got a call from my OB and his nurse saying they were setting up an appointment to have a PICC line placed today and that we would start IV fluids/medications once that was placed later in the day. I lost it. I starting sobbing on the phone the second she mentioned a PICC again. I was somewhat caught off guard and all the memories of getting my PICC last time flooded back along with all complications and care it takes.
So, my husband called back and pleaded that we try IV fluids and some IV meds first and if that didn't work, we would feel better about a PICC. They agreed to let us try that first so off to L&D we went. I got 3 liters of fluids plus some IV meds. At that point they were planning on admitting me to see how I did through tomorrow. But, they ran some labs first and luckily they weren't as horrible as expected so I was allowed to go home.
I'm now on 4 medications at home and instructed to call if I continue having issues at which point a PICC and Zofran pump will be placed. Ugh. I was doing a little better this afternoon, but it's slowly going back into the red and I'm feeling worse and worse and not doing well keeping things down.
So, we'll see what happens. I'm still hoping for no PICC, but at least now I know that it's a pretty close possibility. I'll keep everyone updated as I can. Thanks again for the T&P!

I am so so sorry that you are going throught this again. You were such an encouragement to me during my pregnancy when I had the PICC line/Zofran pump and my at home IV's and such. I wish there was something I could do to repay the favor. All I can say is that im sorry, I know how much it sucks at times and how physically horrible you must feel. Know that you can vent to me anytime.
Are the nurses able to get an IV inserted into your vein easily? If so, is having a home health care company put an IV in and you run the fluids yourself at home a possibility? I was on this route for a bit before my veins kept blowing and that's why I ended up with the PICC. It was still a pita, but easier to shower anyway!
My thoughts are with you!
good lord! I was hoping you would avoid all of this, this time. We have a date next Saturday so you better feel better. You know, cuz it's all about me. ;-)
Again, if you need anything let me know!
Thanks so much for the support everyone!
Jess - they were able to get the iv in pretty easy. We could do home health IV fluids but given my history, my OB would rather put a PICC in and run the fluids and Zofran pump (and any other IV meds) through the PICC at home so we don't have to continue getting new IVs.
I hope you start feeling much better. Praying you don't have to have the PICC line again!
