Does anyone read the message boards on FF...

I have to give it the side eye.  I mean, I read a post last night where this woman and her DH practically did their own at-home IUI with a syringe and Pre-Seed.  And someone else said she's probably out because she got a BFN at 9dpo.

 

*Now, I thought I remembered a few years ago that we weren't allowed to "bash" them over there but I honestly don't remember if that's true or not, so if it is, I'll take this down.

I know someone who also did this and now have two kids and they are healthy 8 and 11 year olds.

Yeah, there are dumb people everywhere: on FF, on TB...

As for the at-home IUI, I've never heard of someone attempting that.

Was it really and IUI? That means that the sperm was injected into the cervix and the uterus. That is a huge risk for infection.

Or did they just inject sperm into the vagina?

She said they got as close to the cervix as possible, so I'm not sure. I apologize for using the wrong term. Yes to each their own. I'm creeped out on a cleanliness level. I can't imagine you can get things clean enough. I've been wrong before though! It does work. The police department I work for arrested a man for inseminating his step-daughter with a turkey baster years ago. Sorry if this comes through crappy. I'm on my phone while I'm at classes this evening.

I have absolutely no problem with trying to get sperm as close to the cervix as possible. If your hands and syringe is clean what is the problem? Our bodies are not sterile until you pass the cervical os. I am all for trying the preseed and instead cup method as well.

 When intercourse happens the sperm don't automatically go to the right area. There is a lot of chance involved. Women with infertility are doing the best they can to get pregnant and not everyone is ready to go in for an IUI.

I am also a very inventive and do it yourself type of person and I don't think people trying things for themselves is a negative. Of course that being said I am not for people taking medical risks at home but preseed and a syringe is not a medical risk.

9 days po is too early to be calling a bfn though. I also have never read the FF boards but might head over there today since I am on a free vip pass this week.

Sorry ladies

Some couples are so desperate to have kids that they will TRY anything under the sun. It may not be what other find safe or traditional.

My sister risked her life- she lost one baby at 5 month and was told that she was unable to have kids. She kept trying and trying and 5 years later got pregnant with twins.  at 6 1/2  months pregnant she was rushed to the hospital as she began bleeding. The twins didnt make it.

at age 30 she already buried 3 babies..

 

she is now 32 and decided to adopt and have 3 kids now.
