I just got my beco today and I think I'm a convert. I love it. I was jonesing for the Ergo performance but opted for the beco gemini because I really like the option of the narrow carry. I feel like when I put DD in the Ergo, straddling my waist, that it's just too much on her hips.
Anyhow, now, not only do I have the option of the narrow carry, but she can face forward and I got a pretty print to boot. It feels really comfy with DS in there too- like he is barely there (similar to the ergo). Also, the canvas seems super soft (maybe just because it's new- I haven't felt the 'new' ergo canvas so take that comment FWIW).
I also really like that you can have the straps cross in the back rather than doing up the clip (which I needed to do because I have small shoulders and the ergo would slip off a lot during front carry if I didn't.
I can't wait for DD to wake up from her nap so I can give it a test drive because let's face it, DS doesn't like to be carried for long anymore
The one thing the beco is missing is a pocket. I think that may end up driving me nuts because I'm so used to having a zippered pocket for my wallet and the other little pocket on the ergo.
Re: beco gemini vs standard ergo
sorry ladies
didn't mean to be an enabler.
