Thanks in advance for any input. I am hoping to hear from others who have had similar symptoms. I would have been 6 weeks exactly today. 2 days ago I started brown spotting. I went to my OB yesterday who did an exam and b/c my cervix was closed, said I was not miscarrying. Later yesterday, I started bleeding bright red blood which is continuing today. It was definitely not light, but also not soaking an entire pad. I went in for an u/s today and there was nothing in my uterus. They also did a check for implantation outside of the uterus and did not see anything. My hCG levels yesterday were 107 and I will have more blood drawn tomorrow and hopefully they will have a better idea of my chance of an ectopic pregnancy.
I got a BFP on day 33 and began spotting on day 41. My periods have not been regular for awhile and vary from 30-40 days. From what I understand, my best guess is that this is Chemical Pregnancy. I will of course discuss this all with my doctor tomorrow, but if anyone has any insight I would appreciate hearing from you. I am also curious if you have (unfortunately) also experienced a chemical pregnancy if you were told when you could start TTC again.
Again, thank you very much for any input and thanks for reading. Good luck to all!
Re: Miscarrying now - looking for advice
Sorry you are going through this.
It definitely sounds like a chemical pregnancy. HCG levels of 107 is very low. Normal range for 6 weeks is 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
Of course the main concern would be to rule out an ectopic. If your HCG goes up and down and not just going down, that would be a good indicator of ectopic.

ETA: Every doctor is different, some will tell you that you can try right away, some will say wait until after you get your first af after m/c, others will say 3 months or more.
I had what I felt was a chemical pregnancy last March and that doctor told me to wait 3 cycles, I changed OBs and the new one said there was no reason to wait that long. When I had a last 1st trimester loss in November the new doctor said to just wait until after I get my 1st af. We tried but didn't conceive so now I am on cycle 2.
I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. Your story sounds a lot like mine, and not to say yours will end up the same way as me, but here is my experience. I had been spotting since about week 5. The doctor did bloodwork for a week to see the trend in the hormones- they were not rising enough and they scheduled an u/s to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. They didn't find anything in my uterus or outside of it either, but they also said that at under 6 weeks it isn't necessarily a given that they would be able to see anything. This was last week on Thursday. He began to prepare me for the idea of a miscarriage, but scheduled bloodwork for Monday saying that if it rises a lot we're not going to m/c, if it rises only a little they'll be more concerned about ectopic, and if it dropped we would expect a m/c. Sunday night came and I started bleeding- red but not very heavy. Monday bloodwork in the morning showed a drop from 1350 to 195 cementing the fact that I would m/c and by Monday afternoon it was fully underway. This is day three.
In terms of moving forward from here, we are really eager to try again and the doctor said he would like us to wait a minimum of one cycle. He scheduled a follow up appointment for 3 weeks from now to discuss everything once we have had a chance to deal with the emotional part of this a bit more.
Your doctor will be able to best advise you on the next steps, but I hope my experience so far is some help to you. Good luck.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
After my second loss (which the NP refused to call a c/p) I was advised to wait two cycles. I do not know if this was because I had a loss in September, got pregnant in November & then m/c again or if that was always her advice.

i had a similar situation in September. i was right around 6 weeks, had just miscarried at 7 weeks in April, and my doctor scheduled us for a US at the 7 week mark.
i started spotting on Monday of that week but wasn't too worried because i'd done the same with my son. Tuesday it was getting a little heavier and Wednesday it was bright red. by Thursday morning i had fully miscarried.
my doctor has always told me to wait at least 1 or 2 cycles just to be sure everything is "working" okay. since September we have done a few tests but haven't officially started TTC again.
like everyone else has said, your doctor will be able to tell you whats best to do, but also listen to your heart. if you aren't quite ready to start TTC again it won't hurt to wait another cycle.
good luck with everything!
