Opinions on Primrose?

We're considering Primose Wellington (Flower Mound), NE Flower Mound, Lewisville (on Garden Ridge), and Las Colinas.

Any experiences or opinions of these specific locations or of Primrose in general?  I'm just starting the Great Daycare Search of 2011 so I'm starting with the Primrose schools then going to look into other centers and home-based care as well.

Re: Opinions on Primrose?

  • I checked out Primrose and did a tour of the Coppell facilty. It was too expensive for us at $295/wk for an infant, $265/2 yo. We have our 2 yr old at Kids R Kids Las Colinas-it was voted the best preschool in DFW. It has a large playground and water park. They also offer parents night out once a quarter. Ultimately, it was comparable to Primrose just less expensive. I'm checking out Coppell Creek Montessori tomorrow. We're looking to switch to a Montessori setting. They take infants too and are opened yr round. My fingers are crossed! I found the state website listed below helpful determining the safety of the facility. Primrose has a good word of mouth reputation so I think it may be a good choice. https://www.dfps.state.tx.us/child_care/search_texas_child_care/ppfacilitysearchdaycare.asp

  • During my great daycare search last year, I visited the Primrose in Keller. It looked clean and safe and everything they said was on par with what I was looking for, but something didn't seem right. A week or so later, a coworker mentioned that she'd gone to interview to teach music at that location and left before they called her to the office because she was uneasy about the atmosphere and unhappy about hearing a baby cry for 15 minutes without being tended to. I don't know if all Primrose locations are like that, but you might want to go check it out and see how it makes you feel. Like pp, I checked out the Kids R Kids in Keller and I loved it instantly. I just got a really calm feeling after being there. Our financial situation changed and DS didn't end up at daycare at all, but when he does go, it will be at Kids R Kids.

  • My story is the same.  We checked out Primrose (in Frisco though) and it was good, but we ended up at Kids R Kids, because we liked it better, and we LOVE parents night out!!!!  We don't have grandparents that live close by, so it is nice to have someone we trust watch our baby so we can go out every now and then.

  • Hey,

Two things, I worked at Wellington and Old Orchard.  I don't recommend Wellington.  I left that school because teachers were constantly thrown from room to room when there wasn't someone to cover.  I would have 20 kids at times and I was only supposed to have 10.  I also was in the administrative part and once I learned how things were handled  I quit.  You can find cheaper more one on one better care.  After working for a preschool I will probably never leave my child there.  They pick on certain children and favor the others.  It's not fair.

  • Wow, is there somewhere in the area that you would recommend, Becky?
