post ET "rules"??

Hi ladies,

I'm doing a FET on Friday. I can't remember what rules they will give me? I know my RE doesn't require, or really even suggest bedrest, but I do remember some rules about not picking up x amount of pounds, etc. I'm worried b/c Sophia is well over 20 pounds now, and loves for me to pick her up. Not sure how I'm going to handle that.

What were your post ET instructions? tia!

Re: post ET "rules"??

  • My RE just said to take it easy and not to do anything that I would regret/blame myself for should the cycle not work. I don't remember a weight lifting requirement...but usually those restrictions are more about not injuring yourself than harming the pregnancy/potential pregnancy. So lifting something you lift all the time (i.e. Your kid), it usually isn't a problem. Or so my doctors said. GOOD LUCK!

  • My RE's rules were 24 hrs, total bedrest except for going to the bathroom.  Not even a shower.  The second 24 hrs were limited to a quick trip to the living room couch or quick shower.  I don't remember a weight restriction, but maybe there was.  I wasn't going to be around smaller kids, so I may have felt that it didn't apply to my.

  • I was told bed rest for 24 hrs and to take it easy the next day too.  No sex until pregnancy test.  No lifting over 20lbs.

My toddler is over 30 and my second is about 21lbs.  The first 24 hours I did not lift either of them.  The next day I did lift my baby but I tried not to carrying her around...I just picked her up to change her, get her out of bed etc... I still do not pick up my toddler...when she wants me to hold her I kneel or sit down and hug her or let her sit on my lap.

    Good luck!!!

  • My RE said 24 hours modifed bed rest - I could get up to go to the bathroom, make myself something to eat, but pretty much nothing besides that. After that, no restrictions except for no alcohol, smoking, etc.
  • Since I haven't had a transfer in almost 2 yrs, I won't be much help, but wanted to wish you GOOD LUCK!!

  • I dunno. Our RE group doesn't typically restrict much, as I recall. Just mostly wanted to wish you GOOD LUCK!
