We had M's one-year pedi appt on Saturday, and here's how she's measuring up:
weight: 20lbs 8oz (25th percentile--she continues to be a string bean!)
height: 30" (~60th percentile)
head circumference: 18" (50-75th percentile)
She got a clean bill of health and developmentally is right on track. The doctor asked if she can follow commands and respond to words (not just things), and we're starting to see her do that, but I had still been, for instance, asking her if she wanted her milk while showing her the sippy cup. So we're working on just saying the words and getting her to respond to that. She has a baby doll, and she goes and gets it when we ask where her baby is, and when I tell her to kiss or hug the baby she does that. So we're on the way!
We have to have bloodwork done, and the doctor asked about her iron intake. I don't eat any red meat, so I haven't fed her any yet, and I need to find some other iron-rich foods. I know lentils and baby cereal are good options...anyone have any others?
She continues to blow our minds, I swear. We were taking down the Christmas tree a couple weeks ago, and she was watching us, then walked over and started taking balls off the tree and trying to put them away. So adorable!!!
Re: our one-year stats!
Why the bloodwork? Farina has 50% RDA of iron. I give Sienna that once a day.
It just amazes me the new things she does every single day. BTW, how are things going with DH?
I guess it's just standard bloodwork--iron level and something else (the paper is at home). I thought it was standard--all my friends will one year olds had to get it done at 1, too. Huh! Now I'm stumped.
Things with H are thankfully going much, much better. (I definitely posted that post a while back in the heat of emotion!!) Thank you for asking!!
My Dr. has never had Sienna get bloodwork. I wonder why. I would think it would be required. I'm so glad things are working out for you. Adjusting to parenthood can be stressful. Sometimes you just need to get things off your shoulders to feel better or get another perspective.
Sounds like she is doing great! I wonder about the different charts for % because T is 30" and is at 80% per her pedi.
Didn't a child Nutritionist just post on our board? She would be a good one to ask about iron rich foods.
It still amazes me how smart they are.
THis site has a break down of how much iron
