A guy my hubby works with and his wife are expecting their first baby in July. Their due date is July 24th and he is dead set on that they will have a 4th of July baby because he thinks that all women with their first go early. My husband and another guy out there both told him that usually first babies go closer to their due date if not over, but this guy wants to argue with them and tell them that isn't normal. So I wanted to do a poll and see how close those of us that have already had our 1st babies were to our due dates. Also include if you went into labor naturally or were induced or had a scheduled c-section. Remember this is your first only...thanks!
I had A the day after my due date. I was 40wks1day and I was induced and ended up with a c-section.
Re: A Poll(not clicky): How close to your due date did you go?
That guy has no idea what he is talking about, lol. His estimate would mean she'd have the baby around 37 weeks, and that is just not very likely. I've read/heard the average pregnancy for a first timer is 41 weeks and 1 day.
I went into labor on my own, and had DS at 38 weeks, 4 days. However, there is a chance my EDD was a few days off, I always suspected they put it too late. So, my guess is he may possibly have been more like 39 weeks.
Nor should he HOPE for a 37wkr.
I went early...but clearly, I'm the exception, not the rule ;-)
natural m/c and d&c at 10 weeks - 1/24/2014
DX w/ hetero C677t and A1298C MTHFR - 3/4/2014
Brody was born at 39 wk 2 days induced due to HBP and ended up with a C-sec. I planned to wait as long as possible if I wouldn't have had the BP issues. I was terrified of induction because of the risk of having a C-sec. But he weighed 9lbs 13 oz so I probably would have ended up with a c-sec if I waited until he was ready to come.
I was 41 weeks. Never went into labor, had a scheduled c-section (scheduled the day before we did it).
And just to help you out with your numbers - my SIL was also 41 weeks 1 day, never went into labor, during her 41 week appointment that day, OB decided she needed a c-section immediately because of her blood pressure.
Although anything is possible, the guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.
I went into labor on my own and had Preston via C-section at 37w4d according to my doctors calculations...according to my calculations, as well as the growth u/s, he was actually 38w3d.
I had him 17 days before my due date...
Allie was born at 39 weeks, 5 days...but I was also induced.
That guy is crazy...it is definitely more likely that she will go past her due date!
I had a schedule c-section at 39 weeks.
That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Most first timers go to there due date or beyond. Out of all the women I know who have children only one actually had her baby on her due date, all the others have gone over. So tell him to cool his heels.
I was induced at 39 weeks due to her size. I ended up with a c-section because she wouldn't come down all the way. Turns out her head was too big and my pelvis didn't spread.
He has no idea what he is talking about. It is rare for a baby to come that early on its own. July 4th will most likely come and go with that baby still warm in cozy inside momma's belly.
I was induced at 39 weeks.
Sounds like he is just excited. He's also probably going to be wrong!
I was induced @ 38.5 weeks due to PIH but was already 100% effaced & 3 cm {I think?} before my OB broke my waters/gave Pitocin that morning.
The Baby Blog.
Me too. Not as early as kkh but early.
