I'm in debt up to my eyeballs with various things....not credit cards....student loans & various dr & hospital bills that we are still paying off from a period of time we were without insurance.

This is the Nest. No one has debt, everyone has a nest egg to cover 12 months of expenses (that's the new 3 month cushion), fully funds their 401K, maxes out each child's 529, and goes to Walt Disney World twice a year, paid in cash before they go. And tithes 10% of their income to charity.
No. DH and I are completely on the same page when it comes to debt. Admittedly since moving we do have a mortgage but our goal is to have that paid off in 5 years.
Everything paid in full every month.
But, we are older too. In our early twenties we carried some debt (<$10000 at its peak) after buying our first home and furnishing it, etc. But since our mid twenties we have been debt free.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am

I have about 25K in student loans and we have somewhere in the neighborhood of 4K in credit card debt.
I'm pretty proud that that's our only debt since DH is in his fourth year of graduate school and we have managed to not increase our debt significantly in the time he's been in school making *very* little money in a VHCOL area. Most people I know with graduate degrees have mountains of debt when they're done, so I'm happy with where we stand. The bit of credit card debt we do have was from unexpected medical bills.

No credit card debt. We have one JCP card that has a zero balance.
No student loans.
No car payment.
$85K mortgage.
Really, not a 'made for the Bump' movie amount. LOL We have a month or two worth of expenses, and a little retirement savings. Which sucks, because DH turned 50 this year and he's got a crapload of catching up to do.

We owe 3500 on a car (which will be paid off this year) and ~3000 in student loan debt and of course a sizeable mortgage (this is SoCal after all). We could have paid the car off months/years ago but I figured out how much we are paying in interest to keep the loan and felt it was worth it to keep it (in case one of us lost our jobs or whatever). The student loan interest rate is super low and the interest is tax deductible.
We owe some on my car. H transferred it on a 0% credit card, so he sees no need to pay it off, when our money is earning interest elsewhere. This is what he calls "debt leveraging."
Only owe on our home, one car which is almost paid off and we will pay the rest of DH's student loans (med school) this year. Other than that, no debt. All charges made on credit cards are paid in full once the statement comes in. Lots goes into our kids' college savings accounts, our emergency fund, our fun money account and then there's retirement, etc.

Yes, I don't mind sharing. I owe $38K in student loans & $33K in a HELOC loan on our rental house. We had $12K in CC debt until a week or 2 ago when we paid it all off finally. We have paid for cars but they are 2005 & 2007. We own 2 houses w/ mortgages that total over $600K. Any other questions? I'm an open book.

Christmas 2011
Here, I'll answer for the rest of the responders as well.
$0 in credit card debt.
Our 2009 and 2010 vehicles are paid off.
I have a 10 year mortgage that has been paid in to for 3 years already and will likely be paid off in just another 2 years.
No. DH and I are completely on the same page when it comes to debt. Admittedly since moving we do have a mortgage but our goal is to have that paid off in 5 years.

$2k in student loans
$8k in car loans
$4k in credit cards
We rent, so no mortgage. We both just started our 401k's last year (In our mid-20's), and very little savings, but we're working on it.
So there ya go...honest enough?
****standing ovation****
$6000 in credit card debt that will be paid off in April.
Way too much for a mortgage, no car loans and no student loans.
Or this! Minus the Disney trips.
