I want to get DS magnetic letters for the fridge, most say choking hazard for under 3, should I wait ( he is a year old), is it a size issue and I just buy the 'jumbo' letters. Or is it the magnet that is the concern.
They make the plastic ones so weak that every time I'd walk buy they'd fall off. I think they can be a choking hazard, but that's probably going to depend on the kid. E never puts anything in her mouth (which made giving her solids interesting), so I felt comfortable with the magnet-backed foam ones we got at the Mt. Vernon co-op.
We got Melissa and Doug ones that have te magnet over the whole bck instead of that little bitty magnet that can come off. The lower case ones are too small for my comfort but we use te uppercase ones. We also got Melissa and Doug animal magnets that are a bigger hit.
The leap ones are cool! They sing when you put them on the housing part. We bought M the animal ones and she LOVES them. She sticks them in her mouth all the time and hasn't grown any extra body parts yet so I think she is ok
