My Dad turns 75 in April and they are set on doing a family vacation. Will include my parents, brother, nephew who is 9, my husband and I and our 10 month old. Where should we go? We are thinking no where will be easy/fun with a 10 month old. Mostly thinking house on beach. But where that is warm enough in April to swim? Thanks for helping. This is really getting difficult. Cruise would be crazy, right? I mean she is in bed by 7 and needs 2 naps. Appreciate your input. Caribbean? Worth the airplane ride?
Re: Where to go with 10 month old
I would not do a cruise since they will not let babies in a pool on ships until they are potty trained (no swim diapers aloud).
Florida is warm in April or maybe somewhere in the Caribbean?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

You could definitely do florida... or somewhere on the gulf coast, no?
I'd be careful about the caribbean, I would only take a baby that young somewhere that doesn't have water issues. you wouldn't want her getting sick from drinking a little water during bathtime or something. but there are lots of lovely, and cheap, family resort deals out there!!
Because we're fancy like that.
If you are concerned about water. Aruba has their own water purification system on the island. The water is perfectly fine for drinking.
I think only Mexico is a concern from water?

Thanks for your input! Yes, looks like FL or Caribbean would work. Flights seem expensive so maybe we do look at AZ. Maybe Grand Canyon? My folks don't make the greatest baby sitters...but we'll make the best of it!
I don't have great ideas for you since I don't have a 10 month old yet. I just wanted to add that the Grand Canyon has very different weather from Phoenix, as it's much higher elevation and not so desert-like. I think the discrepancy can be 20 degrees or so, so it's worth checking if the Grand Canyon would be warm enough. It also depends on what is more your speed - hiking/sight seeing or laying by the pool/working on your tan/watching pre-season baseball.
Either way, enjoy!
We did a cruise with my parents when DS was 11 months. He was walking but it wouldn't have been a problem if he wasn't. A lot of people take blow up baby bath tub or small pool for infants since they can't get in the pool but they still have something to splash around in. All the staff was accommodating. Some cruise lines will even supply or make baby food for you.
Cruises are so affordable these days, the only thing I would have done different would have been to pay for a balcony so that we could enjoy while DS was napping or sleeping. My parents let us go out a night or two while they stayed with DS. Many lines you can pay for child care.
We had a blast and it was really easy with a baby. We took a big stroller and he slept in it on deck with a towel over the front and some evening we even went out with while he slept in the stroller. A few days we did put him down in the room for a nap and my dad was more than willing to take a nap with him at the same time. So I would do a cruise in a heart beat.
ETA: the family cruise board on cruisecritic.com is really helpful and the search function actually works
