3rd Trimester

question for those who do NSTs

Have you ever had a nonreactive NST while baby was moving all over?  Today was nonreactive-  but the kiddo was definitely making huge movements.  I was kind of immune to nonreactive since my son always seemed to be asleep and nonreactive when I went for him-  but this freaked me out.

I got an 8/10 on the BPP overall (the 2 points lost for the NST) so I guess all looks well-  however was high in amniotic fluid.  So I guess I am just extra freaking out

thanks

Re: question for those who do NSTs

  • The two times that I was sent to l&d for nonreactive NSTs is when he was sleeping through most of it. He would move, but it felt more like he was moving in his sleep compared to being active. That or he would be super active for a few minutes and then get move away from the monitor and I would lose his HB.

  • yeah, they can move and still not have a raise in the HR or it's not long enough.

I had one once and they did a BPP and he looked good. I never got a score.

hmm sorry you had a rough test. what was your fluid level? They will probably just recheck it next time for you and keep and eye on it.

    good luck!!

  • I've been getting weekly NSTs and this happens just about every time.  I eat before hand, drink juice, lay on my side, etc.  The nurse says she's sleeping but I feel her moving around.  Her heartrate fluctuates a bit but stays within normal range in a fairly straight line.  The BPP is always fine except high amniotic fluid.  I have polyhydramnios (27).  I'm sorry I can't offer insight as I, too, am a bit freaked out.   But, this exact scenario keeps happening and my doctors don't seem concerned.
