Hi ladies. I'm working on updating my registry. My one and only shower is 2 weeks before my due date. DH and I bought the crib and changing table because I just really didn't want to be without that. My mother bought me the glider because that is what her mother bought her when she had me (well, a rocker). My MIL and SIL are a little upset because they were going to buy the crib but we bought it. Then they were going to buy the glider but my mother bought it. (FWIW, I didn't know any of that until after the fact) They want to purchase a "big ticket item" and SIL has said to DH, "Tell your wife to stop buying things!" I'm just nervous with the shower being 2 weeks before my due date.
Well, my step mom and dad are taking me to BRU this weekend to buy me some stuff off my registry. I was going to have them buy the stroller with the carrier/car seat because that is something I know I'll need right away. After all, I need that carrier to bring LO home. I know SIL won't be happy about this. I have no clue what she is planning on getting now and the way things are going it was probably going to be the stroller combo but I don't want to take that chance either and have to run out last minute to buy it. (The closest BRU is about 45 min to an hour away)
I'd like to know what your big ticket items are so I can add some stuff. I feel very uncomfortable with people buying expensive stuff for us and put lower priced items that we wanted/need on our registry. But now I feel like I should have something bigger on there because of this. TIA
Re: What are your "big ticket items"?
For us the items that were $100+ on our registry were: Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller, Chicco Keyfit infant carseat, Pack N Play, Little Lamb Swing and Ergo Baby carrier
Ditto... Except for the Little Lamb Swing. We also have the Graco Blossom High Chair on their... Pretty much anything over $100 like PP said.
Some of the "big ticket" items you can put on your registry can be the bedding for LO, the bassinet, a high chair, pack & play, baby swing, good quality monitor, exersaucer, etc.
Hope that helps!

#2 due July 19th! (It's a boy!)
crib, dresser, bookshelf, glider, stroller, car seat, pack 'n play, high chair, swing, breast pump, crib mattress, bedding, monitor (if you get some fancy video one)
or they could get you a whole bunch of practical stuff - cloth diapers, bathtub, towels, bottles, blankets, etc
Ha! This sounds like my problem with my family/hostesses that I asked about yesterday. Didn't know we weren't supposed to buy our own child items he will need!
But, to answer your question, some of the big items we had were the convertible carseat for when LO gets too big for the infant carrier, the swing, a pack n play or bassinet and bouncer. I think that's about all other than what you already have. Hope this helps!

We don't have anything over $150 but have a handful of "big" items -- highchair, swing, infant carrier/car seat, convertable car seat, crib mattress, pack n play, jumperoo, angelcare monitor and a step n play
We bought our crib, dresser/changing table, and are buying our rocker in the next few weeks.
We bought all of the nursery furniture ourselves, but we still have plenty of big ticket items on the registry:
-Graco Travel System
- Co-Sleeper Bassinett
- Angel Sounds Baby Monitor
- Britax Marathon Carseat (for when LO outgrows the infant seat)
- Graco Swing
- Graco Pack & Play
(All of these items are at or over $150).
I like that idea!

As PPs have said, I would suggest a PnP, carrier, swing, etc. Those types of things.
I am getting the "stop buying things!" trip from my gma and MIL too, but I won't be having a shower before the baby's born, and I'm like, I have to get some things! AND, I don't expect big expensive gifts from anyone. I have always been pretty independent, and don't want to sit around waiting to see what I get for gifts, especially when I see something on sale. And I certainly don't want to call up MIL (who already bought us a glider, btw) and say "hey, I don't know why you keep telling me to stop buying things, but if you were planning on getting us something, and if that something was a PnP, there is one on sale at BRU now..." .Awkward.

We bought our main (all-terrain beast) stroller and both carseats ourselves. Our parents bought the nursery furniture and bedding. The "big ticket" items that we have left are (items that I consider "necessities" in bold...things I'd really like to have before LO gets here...):
- Bjorn-type carrier
- Jumperoo
- Swing
- Baby monitor
- Smaller stroller (for the airport, quick trips, etc.)
- Pack n play
- Diaper bag
We haven't had any showers yet (2 scheduled), so I'm hoping that we will at least get the PNP and swing! Someone has already bought our diaper bag off our registry, and we'll get it at our Feb 19 shower, so I'm not too worried about it.
Mine is pretty much the same as everyone else...
- Angelcare Sensor Monitor
- Swing
- Travel System
- Pack n Play
- Breast Pump
- All of these things were ones that I went with my ideal and favorite on my registry, but if they don't get bought I might have to budget some other way. Except the Travel System - because I love the pattern I picked too much.
