Hi - I am in need of a lactation consultant... I introduced the bottle based on nurse/ped advice at the hospital, and now I am having trouble with my 10-day old baby girl latching on. I didn't care for the lactation consultant at the hospital. I am attempting to nurse at every feeding, and using a nipple shield with limited success. I am bottlefeeding pumped breastmilk but am approaching wits end with the pumping/feeding schedule. Any help/recommendations on lac consultants is much appreciated - I live in Farmington Hills. Thank you!
Re: Lactation Consultant - can you recommend one???
Since you are in Oakland County you qualify through the county to get a free LC.

Best of luck, I know how hard it is. I promise it will get easier. You are smart to get a LC to help. If you don't mind me asking, what hospital did you deliver at? Did they only have 1 LC?

I don't have any recommendations, but I feel your pain. My LO is 8 days old and we've been going through the same problems. I have come close to quitting myself, but I keep telling myself to try just a little longer. I'd been attempting to BF each time and would just give her a bottle of pumped BM when I had no luck. But my efforts have started to pay off - we've been bottle free since Sunday evening. It's only been a couple of days so I'm not convinced we're home free yet.
Through all of the tears, my DH reassured me that even if BF didn't work, at least I was pumping and would be able to give LO BM. So keep that thought in the back of your mind. I wish you the best of luck in your efforts and hope you find a lactation consultant that works for you.
