Reload your windows software disk - re-run the install (full).
Black screen does not = death it just means you have no OS (operating system) working properly on your computer. It can't run anything because it can't find the root files.
1st the reinstall was not working, in fact, it sounded like the computer was not even running, thought for SURE it was DEAD. I back everything up on a regular basis, but there would be some lost things that would sting a lil'. Plus pay for a new computer? yeah right. Davez hates me on this thing as it is.
Well, I kept trying to reinstall with different choices, and finally it came to life!
ACK! THANKYOU!!!!!

If you here any crunchy or scratchy sounds when your computer first spins up (the hard drive) you might want to get that swapped out ASAP (should be under 100) - you might have write and read errors due to a bad disk.
I'd not pay someone like Geek Squad to do it - your local computer geek can do it super duper easy - I'm sure YOU could do it super easy too.
If you didn't do a total wipe (where you lost all of your info) - I'd back up and be prepared to have to do that soon.
