That Bailey (our dog) doesn't like Jack.
He gets so excited when she is running around playing and when she comes by one of us when we are holding him he reaches out for her. Unfortunately she doesn't want anything to do with him. She is still so jealous of him and does anything to get our attention away from him. I know when we first brought him home we turned her world upside down. She was the baby for 3yrs but I honestly thought that after 6 months she would have adjusted and accepted him. I always had this image of my little boy and my puppy playing in the yard together. Now I am realizing that may never happen. My heart breaks for Bailey because I don't think she is the same dog she was before Jack, and it's only going to get worse for her as he gets older and is able to chase after her. But my heart also breaks for Jack who is so intrigued by her and wants to play with her, as he gets older he is going to want that dog to play with.
My Dh says "what were we suppose to do never have a baby because we might upset the dog?" I know he's right but I can't help but feel like a bad doggy mommy. ![]()
Re: It breaks my heart....
Anyway, just wanted to commiserate with you!
Take heart!
At ages 3 and 4 my kids are finally old enough to understand they need to be quiet and move slowly around our cat.
Now instead of running and hiding she actually walks up to them for lovin'!
Hoping your beloved fur babies come around once the kids are not so scary to them.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
At first, the cat hid for the first 5 months - I swear! And then around month 8 she came out of hiding and would be in the same room as Rhayna. Around 15 months she's let Rhayna pet it if she was quiet and calm. Around 2 yrs, she was tormenting Rhayna (scratching her door in the middle of the night to wake her, just to p!ss us off...I had to make a moat in front of my daughter's door to keep the freakin cat away!) and now at 2.75 - they have a symbiotic relationship. Rhayna can even get the cat to come and give pets (if the cat is in the mood - I mean the cat ignores ME all day long but the min DH walks in the door HER MAN IS HOME! and she comes out in full force).
It will get better!
