Baby Showers

idea for kids at shower

There will be quite a lot of kids at our baby shower.  Any ideas for activities at the shower for all these kids?  There will be quite a range from infants to 5 yrs. old, but mostly 2-3 yr. old range.  I just don't want them tearing up the house, but that's probably inevitable!

Re: idea for kids at shower

  • Have you considered hiring a babysitter to occupy the kids and act as an extra set of hands to help with kids?

Puzzles, coloring books... inexpensive ways to keep them busy, although it hard to keep a 2 yo still...

make sure you have kid friendly snacks, like goldfish and pretzels, juice boxes...

  • At my baby shower, we had about 12 kids ranging from infants to 8 yrs old--mostly under the age of 5 though. we had baby shower games not only for adults for the kids as well. We had a pinata that my sister bought at party city that was shaped like a baby carriage that we filled with candy. We also had the pin the baby on the stork game for the kids. You can find that game online. Our goal was just to keep the kids entertained because the minute they get bored, they become monsters lol

If you do coloring books, I would HIGHLY recommend getting the crayola color wonder markers that only write on the special crayola wonder paper so they dont write all over the walls. Also, try some blocks. I dont know the amount of space you will have but if its possible to block off a section of the place just for the kids too.

  • I agree with the pp that suggested hiring a couple of babysitters.  Maybe you can keep the kids contained in another room for the most part.  Since they are all pretty young I would just have little cars and trucks, blocks, dolls, super heros, etc. for them to play with.  Once they are 4 they are usually pretty good with crayons and coloring books.  I would try to stay away from activities that are messy.  Hopefully their moms will help keep their own child entertained.  I'm not much of a fan of kids at a shower as a guest or a hostess.
  • THx ya'll.  I just found out the kid total is 14 and adults are 32.  I don't have a small house, but I don't have a kid friendly house except for the area of toys in our living room for our daughter.  I plan on getting some coloring books, etc., put a movie in that might entertain some of the older kids...get some kid-food, and a few other things.  Thanks for the tips!  I am feeling a lil overwhelmed right now with the amount of kids coming! I am thinking I should have had a girls shower only! haha!
