Does anyone else HATE the clothing size change??

Jake is pretty on target with most of his clothes. He's just outgrowing 12-18 month pants and I'm washing all his new ones, but they are HUGE on him! Like 3 inches too long and very big on the waist.  I feel like there's always a period of time where I'm rolling his pants and shirt sleeves.  Anyone else?

  • Only had to do a couple so far, but it hasn't been that bad logistics wise. It is more a bittersweet thing for me, but all the clothes we have of the same sizes are cut so differently, she is wearing multiple sizes at a time, so an actual full changeover hasn't happened, more of a gradual putting away of an outfit here or there. She usually fits into things pretty well, so I am not having a problem with being too big or having to adjust them to fit.

  • We have this issue at times, mostly with pants... DD is currently in 2T clothes in most places. I was just looking at some of her stretch pants on her the other day and noticing that they are starting to get a tiny bit snug in the thigh area. I'm nervous because I can't imagine a 3T will be anywhere near close to fitting her in length for a very long time!! She's in the 75% for both height and weight so I don't know how that happens :) I feel like she's constantly tripping over some of her pants, but a smaller size would never fit! (and I roll them all day long, but they never stay that way!)

  • It levels out. Ethan is 2 1/2 and is wearing 24 month and 2t stuff now. I buy some 3t, but he needs the 2t, and especially after losing weight from the pukey virus, he is so skinny. 18 months was an awkward age for sure

  • I find having clothes from different retailers helps with that.  Old Navy has some really slim fitting pants so that helps us...Reed and Penny both wear larger tops than pants because they have long torsos.  Also when he gets bigger, you can buy the pants with the adjustable waistband!  Brilliant!!
  • It drives me nuts! I try to buy the stuff with adjustable waist band. I call them maternity pants for toddlers!

  • YES!!  We are still rolling the cuffs of 2T pants but he could NEVER fit in a pair of 18m pants at this point.  He's wearing a lot of 3T tops - 2T tops still fit too for the most part - clothes marked 24 months do not.
