Hi ladies. I finally decided to introduce myself after a LONG time of lurking!
So, let me tell you about myself. My name is Michaela. I am 36 years old, married to my wonderful husband, Bryan for almost 4 years. Momma to my peanut, Allison, and expecting baby #2.
We live in the Pacific Northwest where we are currently in the winter/rainy/gloomy days. I work full time as a pediatric dietitian but have also worked in adult care as well. I am happy to answer any nutrition questions if you have any. My food philosophy is EVERYTHING in moderation but I do try to stick with whole foods and avoid HFCS!
I am an avid baker/cook but the gourmet meals my hubby and I used to make have evolved into a much simpler fare these days since I now have a toddler in the kitchen, hanging of my leg most nights! I consider myself an artsy/crafty person and while I can sew and knit, I haven't had much time nor space these days to make anything. My newest hobby is photography and I spend lots of time lurking on the photography board, soaking up all I can about how to use my DSLR.
I am orginally from California but spent my later childhood in Texas - this is where my family (mom/dad/sister + BIL) have remained for the last 25 years. So you might find me saying "y'all" and "fixin to" frequently. I am a PROUD graduate of Texas Tech University. And for the last 10 years I have been living up here in the Seattle area again after I decided I couldn't stand the heat and humidity of Texas anymore.
I look forward to joining in and getting to know everbody!
Re: Intro from a long time lurker.....
Welcome! What a beautiful photo of Allison. My good friend lives in Seattle. Seems like it's a wonderful place to live. I've enjoyed my visits there.
Congratulations on #2. I had DD when I was 37. My DH and I do hope to have an other child within the next year or so.

Welcome, and CONGRATULATIONS!
Alison's a cutie!
I lived for short stints in San Antonio and then Austin. Couldn't do it. Too dang hot! I miss the barbecue, though, man... Texans know how to treat a brisket!
I used to cook like mad as well. Lately I just do something huge to last a few days, like stews, soups, spaghetti sauces. It's winter, so that kind of thing works. I'm thinking of getting Margaux a little play kitchen so she can "help" for summer food, I can't pass up all the great produce out here!

Hey there! Your LO is a cutie.
NJ is pretty gloomy these days too. I hate the winter. We share a passion & that's photography. I however have become a little lazy with my camera. I do keep it handy but I packed all my lighting equipment away. I thought I was going to be taking portraits left & right of DD but I'm running out of room.
I do have a question for you regarding nutrition. DD seems to be a vegetarian. I don't get it. She loves fruits, veggies, & dairy. But she refuses to eat ANY meat. She doesn't seem to like the texture. But I have also tried to puree it with no success. Please tell me its a phase. Do you think this could make her deficient in any vitamins? Any advice? I will mention it at her 18 mth pedi appt tommorrow.
Welcome Michaela and congrats!
Thanks so much for the warm welcome!
Fiazo - I think it is likely a phase. Often kids need to be offered a food at least 20 times before they will accept it. I think as long as she is getting protein from other sources (milk, cheese, yogurt, beans, tofu, eggs, etc) it is not a problem. My suggestion is to continue to offer it with the meal even if she doesn't eat it. You may also want to try to "hide" it in foods, like adding ground turkey to mac and cheese or to spaghetti sauce.
If you are familiar with Child of Mine by Ellyn Satter, the parent is responsible for the what, when and where of the toddlers eating and then the toddler is responsible for the how much and whether. So don't give up, eventually she will likely begin to accept it.
