formula temp...

how do you warm up your formula? Water in a pot on the stove? Running hot water? Just trying to find the easiest way...

If it's too warm will it harm their bellies?

Re: formula temp...

  • we sat them in a bowl of warm/hot water (from the tap) and eventually just served straight from the fridge.
  • the easiest thing to do is make it with room temp water - and don't warm it -- that way you can easily make bottles on the go, etc.

we made bottles one at a time this way - and IMO it's a ton easier than making a pitcher in the am and having to heat up cold formula from the fridge.

sadly- my one twin had reflux and did so much better with warm bottles- so we did have to warm his... but my other 2 didn't need it - room temp for them was the bomb.

  • When we prep bottles ahead of time or are using the RTF formula, we warm up using a large mug with the hottest water from tap.  Usually takes 4-5 min to warm.  I find it easies to prepare bottles when needed and use powder formula and room temp bottled water (nursery water).  We also use the later when going out.

  • I kept a crock pot on the "warm" setting all day/night and would drop the bottles in there, change the girls and when I came back, they were ready.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • We warm ours in steam heat bottle warmers.  They're about $15 each and take about 5 minutes.  I wish I hadn't gotten them hooked on warm bottles because DD gags if I give her anything else.  Makes eating on the go a pain.  She even gags with room temperature water.
