Pretty sad today. I wish I knew more about this stuff. IVF doesn't sound like it's in the cards for me b/c I had my first u/s and I only have one follicle developing. The other side is a cyst or endo. I've been on 450 follistim since Friday. I don't understand it. I had 2 on each side when we did the lower doses for IUI. I'm just scared that I'm all used up. We all worry about egg quality. I forgot about the possibility of lack of quantity. I shouldn't have had my hopes up so high. I'm turning 42 in a few weeks. I feel like I might as well be turning 62. Sorry so down. All those expensive meds down the drain. Waiting for the call from the doc on what's next.

TTC #1 since 4/10, Dx: MFI IVF planned for April/May
Does anyone know about different combinations? Has anyone had a low follicle cycle followed by a more normal one? I just wish I knew if I should have any hope or hang it up, you know?
I'm on microlupron 20 ml am and pm, 450 follistim pm, and 2 powders in 1 ml of menopure in the am. Plus baby aspirin, folic acid, synthroid and prenate vit.

Pix....that really sucks!!! We are almost same age-I will be 42 in April. Have to keep the hope that it's just going to take some different kind of drugs to get you growing more follies. I often feel much older than 42 too. Will be watching to see where your doc recommends you go from here. Hopefully someone has experienced this and can let you know that there can be success after one rough month.
Pix so sorry for this news. I have heard of different protocols for different women. My RE also recommended acupuncture to help with egg quality. Not sure if yours would do the same or not it really seemed to help me though as you can see in my signature. While I was stimming I went twice a week and the day before egg retrieval and the day of egg transfer. I then cut back to once a week until my beta draws. I don't have my doses here with me at work but my protocol sounds very similar to yours.
I have no experience on the IVF side but when I was doing all the failed injection cycles for the IUI's every time I had different responses in terms of follie count and they were always making adjustments to my menopur doses.
GL and hope they have some answers for you,
JM
RE: JilliansMoma idea on accupuncture -- that's a great idea. After my own bad news today I called and made a first appointment for next Monday (the first available with the woman who, it turns out, also works directly with and at my fertility clinic, doing on-site accupuncture before/after iui's and ivf). So, Pix, you might want to ask your doctor if there's anyone they know of in particular before you search on your own for someone.
Also, my RE has recommended that I start 75 mg/day of DHEA, which you can get cheaply without a prescription at a GNC or other holistic pharmacy. That recommendation was even before the low AMH news; I didn't pick any up last week but DH has literally just gone out to get me some to start tonight. I did some Googling and for low ovarian reserve it appears to have a real effect. Obviously ask your RE first, though.
(((Pixie))) I'm so sorry you are going through this! I agree with the PPs about different protocols. Your RE should have some experience and suggestions for you. If he/she doesn't have suggestions, you could always do a consult with another RE to see what they would do.
Also, there are other boards here on The Bump that might have a broader range of experience. Do you post on either Trouble Trying to Conceive? Or Infertility? I post on TTtC and know that a lot of them have experience, or have seen others go through challenges like this.
So sorry, I know this is a lot to process. Everyone gave such great advice and we are all rooting for you!!! Big Hugs!
Pixie,
I don't have any good words of advice, as I have not started our IVF yet, but I just wanted to let you know you're in my T&P. Big ((hugs)) to you.

Everyone thanks sooo much for all your comments and support. I really means a lot. I'm going to try another IVF soon. I am hopeful that the DHEA will make some difference. And I'm going to ask not to do the bcps if possible. I've decided not to do acupuncture. I had 2 "good" IUIs (I use good loosely as they were both bfns) with 4 follies each before I tried acupuncture. Then I did an acupuncture session and now I have zero follies for IVF. I'm putting two things together that are probably unrelated but this is a mental game too. Good luck everyone! bfps for all of us very soon.
