Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Recommended Books

Hey Ladies,

I just read a post about someone trying to find a book about Miscarriage. My neighbor gave me a great book that was written two women who experienced m/c themselves. This is a book you want to read under the covers with a box of tissues.

Miscarriage: Women Sharing From the Heart by Marie Allen, PhD and Shelly Marks, MS

The opening note in the book: "Dear Mother, Regardless of the length of time you were pregnant, you carried a real living being in your womb. That little being, your baby, died. What you are feeling is grief, a complex, yet natural response to loss. We will give you information about the feelings you may experience in response to your loss. Although the future appears dark, you will survive. You will find your strength along the way. You will see the light of day again. Together we'll hold steadfast thorough the tears. Shelly and Marie"

Another good (religious) book.   Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo.              This book helped confirm my belief that our baby is in heaven and we will see her one day.

Re: Recommended Books

  • I second your book recommendation. By far the BEST book I read after my loss. I re-read it after our second loss. I literally read about 10 books after we lost our first baby and Miscarriage: Women Sharing from the heart really hit home for me and made me feel so much less alone.
