Success after IF

SAHM's What is your daily routine since going to 1 nap?

My boys are transitioning to one nap and now our routine is all screwed up.

So what is your routine starting when they wake up?

So far ours has been wake at 7am, 8oz bottle of wcm, play on floor, 8:30 breakfast w/ sippy of water, 9am play on floor. This where they would normaly take a nap but now they just play in their cribs for a couple hours.

After 9am I'm stumped. If I put them to bed at 10:30-11, do I feed them in between then?

So what does your day look like? The more detailed the better. Thanks!

  • My kiddos are a little older, but this has been our routine forever!!

    8:00 wake up

    8:30 breakfast

9:30 - activity out of the house usually (Kindermusik, play date, story time, etc.) or free play

11:00 juice break (I use the V8 one with fruits and veggies)/snack

    play until lunch

    12:30 lunch

    1:45 or so nap

5:30 or so get up from nap

    dinner

    play with dad

    9:00 bedtime

My schedule is a little more fluid than this and I go with how the boys are doing.  It really helps to get out of the house in the morning otherwise the days seem really long!  :)

  • 6-7 she wakes up.

She has a cup of water, or diluted juice or tea.  We play for an hour or so.

Around 8, we dit down and eat breakfast together.

8:30-9 everyone showers, and dresses, including LO.

Play time, usually we do a craft together, play outside, play cook, and color.  around 12 we have lunch.

After lunch we watch Cailou and cuddle on the couch, then nap time.

    She'll generally sleep from 1-3.

After nap, she has a snack.  Cheese and fruit or cereal for example.  Then we either run errands, or play - another craft.  Outside if it is nice.  At 6 we eat dinner.  Then she has a cup of milk and goes to bed between 630 and 730.

  • I'm not terribly scheduled, so this is a general idea, also I have days where my morning routine is scrapped or moved to later because we have bible study or friends over or I have a photo shoot etc.

    9 wake up

    9:15 have breakfast/get dressed

9:30 have blankie time while I read my bible/pray (he sits on a blankie and plays/reads quietly)

9:50 we read his bible together followed by other books

L wakes up and plays with us for a while in this time and goes back to sleep about 30 minutes later

10:30 ish I work out while he watches a cartoon in the same room

    11:00 I shower and get ready/bright plays/L sleeps

11:30-12 L is up, everyone has lunch followed by naps within the hour

1-3 I do whatever I want while they nap

3:00 everyone is up, we have a snack and play or run errands

    5:00 we start making dinner

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • Jacob wakes between 6-7.  Breakfast is at 8.  Between wake up and breakfast, we play upstairs.  Read, watch Sesame Street, drink WMC.

After breakfast, we come upstairs and I get ready and get him ready.

Around 10, we are normally out the door.  Running errands, going to a playgroup, Gymboree, the gym, etc.

Noon is lunch time.  Usually at home.

1pm is nap time.  He sleeps for 2-3 hours.

After wake up from his nap, we either play at home, go to the gym or run errands.

    5:30 is dinner.

6:45 starts bedtime routine.  Bath, books, bed by 7:15.

  • Our day is pretty flexable depending on the plans I make.  We move nap time around any where from 11:30 - 1:30 depending on dds mood and our plans for the day but on a typical day it's closer to 12:30/1:00.

8-8:30 - wake up and cuddle with me in bed while watching tv until around 9am

    9 - breakfast

9 - 11:30 - Play time and run errands time

11-12:30 - we fit lunch in somewhere in this time frame

    12:30/1:00 - Nap time (anywhere from 1.5 - 3 hours)

2:30/3:00 - wake up from nap and have a snack and watch tv for 20 - 30 minutes

    3:00 - 5:30 - play time

    5:30/6:00 dinnner time

6:30 - unwind time with quiet activites (puzzles, books, coloring, etc)

    7:00/7:15 - bath time/bed time routine

    7:30/8:00 bed time

  • Our schedule is pretty flexible, too. But this is pretty close to what we have done since she dropped her morning nap and started sleeping in later in the morning.  Before she transitioned she used to get up around 7am and then would go down for her nap at 9. Bedtime has always been around 8pm.  The timing of her nap and bedtime now are based on what time she wakes up in the morning and what time she gets up from her nap.  Sometimes I have to wake her up!

9:00 Wake up and morning snuggles

    9:30 Breakfast

10:00 -1:00pm-ish  Play at home, run errands, play dates, library, etc.  This is usually the only window of time where I have to shop or get anything done outside of the house

11:30 - small snack of some sort (usually on the go)

    1:00 lunch

1:30 -2:00 DD goes down for a nap.  I use this time to clean up the house, relax and then start dinner

4:30 - 5:00  wake up and small snack, TV time while I finish cooking.

6:30pm  Dinner and playtime with Daddy

    8:00  bathtime

    8:30 (sometimes 9pm) Bedtime

  • I am also pretty flexible with our schedule. Sometimes things have to be changed up but he is pretty easy going so it works well.

    6-7am Up for the day

7am- Breakfast (instant oatmeal, bannana, cup of milk)

7:30 or so-9am Play time. We do a variety of things. If we have somewhere to go that day, then this is mommy shower and get ready time.

9am- Morning snack (1/2 cup of multigrain cherrios and water).

If we are going somewhere (like the Childrens Museum, running errands, the mall) we will usually leave around this time and he will eat his snack in the car.

9:30-11:30- Either out of the house or playing at home (we usually go out 1 or 2 days a week and stay home the other days). We will play games, read books, play in our basement (he has the Fischer Price Laugh and learn house, a play tunnel, a ball pit and stuff in our basement).

    11:30am- Lunch

Between 12-12:30 he goes down for his nap. This depends on the day. If we are at home that day, he goes down closer to 12. If we have been out for the morning it is either 12:30 or 1 before he goes down. Sometimes he falls asleep in the car and then goes into his bed when we get home.

    Naptime until 2-2:30pm.

2:30pm Afternoon snack (a Trix Yogurt)

3pm-5pm More playtime until daddy gets home around 4:45-5pm

    5-5:30pm Dinner

    5:30-7pm Playtime with daddy

7pm- Start bedtime routine (bath time, brush teeth, story)

7:30pm- In bed for the night

  • he goes to "school"  2 days a week, but this is somewhat what our schedule looks like on days he doesn't have school:

    8-9: wake up time

9:00- breakfast watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

10- I clean up kitchen while he plays in thefamily room (we have an open floor plan, so I can see him while I'm cleaning the kitchen)

10:30- Go upstairs and get myself ready.

11:00- I do some chores upstairs (laundry, make thebed)

Then we play in his room for a while.

12:45/1:00- Lunchtime with Yo Gabba Gabba or some other kid show

1:30/1:45-  I get him dressed and he goes down for a nap (hopefully)

    4:00- wake up.    Snacktime/ Playtime

    5:30/6- dinner

    Then more playtime

    7:30- Bath/ bedtime.

There are days I take him out of course, but not everyday.   If we do go out- it's usually in the AM around 11ish
