Puffy/swollen lips while pregnant?

Over the past few weeks I've noticed my lips seem puffy. I mentioned it to DH and he said they do look bigger and our babysitter commented on them the other night as well. I feel like my bottom lip looks like i had an injection! The rest of my face isn't swelling or puffy and my bp is normal. Has anyone experienced puffy/swollen lips as a pg s/e? Did it go away quickly after delivery?

  • Yes and yes. Wish they would have stayed, though! It took a good 4-6 weeks for the swelling all over to resolve.

ETA: At least that's what my OB said when I started having PP carpal tunnel. He said when I can get my rings back on, I'll know the swelling is gone. He was right.

  • I was swollen everywhere when I was pregnant! The OB said it was all normal as long as my blood pressure stayed in the normal range. I like to think the swelling was what contributed to my excessive weight gain ;) It definitely took a couple months to be back to normal again after I had DD.

Oh perfect!  The porn lips will match the porn looking boobs I get when my milk comes in! Lol.  I didn't have this lip issue last time so it's weird to me.  I don't have very full lips to start with so I'm sure it's not anything too crazy but I can actually feel that they are bigger when I talk and I notice it when I see myself smiling in pictures.

  • Too funny :)  Sounds from the previous posters that it is/ can be normal -- that said, I'm super-sensitive about swelling when it concerns the hands and face, so I'd probably call the doc and ask for a urine test, just to be on the safe side.  GL!
