In preparation for baby #2 eventually, I am thinking about a building a NB stash since we didn't start CDing until DS fit into OS the first time around. It looks like the most inexpensive option might be KL0s + covers since they're a pretty easy resale. I'd add a few AIOs or XS pockets too. Do they really fit from 5-15 lbs? I'd like a single diaper that I can use until baby fits into our OS pockets/fitteds. Would the Thirsties Duo 1 covers work from birth? Again, I'd like to get buy with just one size of cover.
Re: KL0s + Thirsties Duos 1
I was lent some KLOs early on w/ Buffy...(or as the Mr. called them, 'the sheepy diapers')
We didnt like them. We could never get a great fit, there was always *something* sticking out of the wrap and they'd wick.
We did switch to OS (Kawaii) by the time she was 6ish weeks old (she was born at 7#15oz) and they've fit since (we're at 4 months now) and the OS wonder-wrap cover I have has worked since about 8 weeks and still works well (on the smallest setting--it's made form a material that feels like a wetsuit--I just pop in a prefold and we do fine--although my infant LL prefolds are still a touch big.)
I don't know about the KL0s, but we were diapering DS once his meconium passed so about 3 days old and weighed roughly 7lbs at the time. We were using the thirsties duo 1 covers without any difficulty (using prefolds though instead of fitted). GL!
We've been using KL0s and Thirsties covers (size 1) since DS was 1 week old. (And approximately 7 lbs.)
He is almost 2 months and approximately 11ish lbs (I honestly don't know -- doc appt in 3 days) and the KL0s are ending their lifespan on him. So I don't know that they fit all the way to 15 lbs. Might depend on babie's shape. We are moving up to size 1 Kissa fitteds and are still using the same covers.
My daughter was 5 1/2 pounds when she was born. The KL0s and the prefolds were the only diapers that fit her. We have no problem with the KL0s wicking. That poster couldn't have been using a cover that fit them well. The covers we use cover the KL0s completely, and wicking is not a problem for us.
With her small size the ONLY covers that fit her are Bummis Superbrite and ProWraps. The thirsties covers are STILL too big, even now that she's 6 1/2 pounds.
If you can find any of the Thirsties FabFitted XS size, we love those too - but they've been discontinued, and we can't find them anymore.
