2011 Subaru Forester. Roomy enough for two carseats and a dog, but still not huge. I love it! The 2010 is essentially the same, if you were to go the used route.
We have 3 kids and drive Honda Odyssey. I love all the extra room. It's great for towing friends and their kids too. This past summer my friend's car was down and we had plans to go to the pool. Her dad was over fixing her car and I picked her and her kids up. It fit 5 carseats!!
We have a Suburban, which has 6 rear seat-belts for 5 car seats/boosters, and one additional seatbelt for an older child. Our next vehicle will be a Navigator which easily accomodates 6 car seats in the rear.
But...I've rented a Ford Edge before and they are AWESOME!!! Tons of cargo space and roomy backseat. And we've also rented a Chrysler Town and Country minivan and they are pretty spacious also. My parents have a Honda Pilot and love it.
We have a 2008 Nissan Rogue. I love it. Its been great for use and there will definitely be enough room for both of our kids and it gets great gas milage. I do wish we could get a minivan, but for all things considered it's a great car/crossover.
