Could this be an allergy?

B got sick on New Years eve.  We assumed she had picked up the flu and thought nothing of it. She was fine immediately after, except for maybe eating a little less.  Since then she has thrown up 3 times...just sort of randomly...2nd time was here, 3rd time at DC and then today.  She doesn't exhibit any signs of feeling sick, she never has a fever, isn't bothered by it all....but its not like she's spitting up..she's projectile vomiting.

Obviously I'm going to call the Dr but just wondering if this could be some sort of milk or other allergy??  She's had yogurt and cheese for a while now...so it seems weird that she would develop an allergy now.

She's never had acid reflux and we have no family history of allergies...but the throwing up is really worrying me.

Re: Could this be an allergy?

  • Could be a milk or soy allergy. I hope not and it is just a persistant bug that she can take some meds for. One of my sons has to take acidopholis (sp?) every now and then to help the good bacteria in his intestines. He tends to flush out the good and bad bacteria every now and then. When that happens he becomes lactose intolerant. Taking the acidopholis pills clears it up.

  • Since it's only a handful of times and not EVERY time she drinks/eats milk, then I'd think it's something else.  Right before vomiting, has she eaten anything that, for her, is a bit unusual?  Berries?  Yogurt? Egg?  etc.    Is she getting all excited about something or playing hard and that's upsetting her tummy?

But yeah, it might be a trip to an allergist or at least the pedi.

  • Poor Brenna! And what a rough start to the new year! Can't help you re allergy except that vomiting wasn't one of the things we were warned to look for in a soy/dairy allergy with Ellie. But who knows, they're all so different! Good luck. Oh and the RR house on Wagar....the kitchen is bleh!!
  • Sydney had horrible reflux as a baby.....conseqently sometimes when she coughs hard enough she throws up....OH JOY!!!! It makes for terrible fun when sh ehas a cold.

Has Brenna been sick recently...could she be thowing up from coughing? I don't think they normally vomit from an allergy...I thought it was normally rashes or hives.
