DH has been working from home since LO was born but will soon start working at the university. Normally when I currently go grocery shopping I can bring in LO and then go back to the car to get the groceries etc since there is someone to watch him.
We live in a building that has 4 stairs to the front door (we are on the 1st floor so we have a back patio.
Do I have to resign myself to buying only the amount of perishable groceries that can fit in a backpack so that I can use that and carry LO in (we are switching soon to a convertible carseat)? I guess I could wait to bring in the rest of the groceries once DH is home in the evening.
Re: If you live in an apartment-best way to go grocery shopping with LO?
Couldn't you just bring DC inside and put him somewhere safe, like a PNP or high chair, and then quickly do the trips in and out checking on him each time you come back in the house? I think it would be different if you lived on the 5th floor and you had to climb all the stairs each time, but you live on the 1st floor, so trips too and from the car are fast. Another option would be to wear him and bring groceries in over a few trips.

I don't live in an apartment, but I have stairs to get to my kitchen at every entrance...and I just bring C in first and put her somewhere baby proofed and then unload the groceries.
Sometimes, I just get the cold stuff and leave the rest for my DH to bring in when he gets home.
I live on the fourth floor of a high-rise. I can carry LO and two big bags (although I admit it's getting harder as he gets bigger and I wish he'd just walk, but he insists on being carried in the elevator). Sometimes I leave bags of non-perishables in the car to bring up later. Sometimes I load LO in the stroller to go up; I can carry more that way.
I park the car in front of my house and run the groceries in to the foyer while both kids are still in the car. Then I go back to the car and unload the kids. I will let DS play with some toys and put DD in her exersaucer, then I put the groceries away (sometimes DS "helps" me).
When I am unloading from the car, I bring the bags up 7 stairs to the top, unlock the door and put them just inside, so the kids are never out of my line of sight (or in a hot/cold car for too long).
Sometimes I just order peapod or go at night when everyone is in bed - bringing the 2 of them to the store is such a project!!
Pack N Play, high chair, crib are all options for safe places while you run your buns off and bring them in - good quickie workout too
