cytotec round 1 = FAIL....any advice?

So I posted a little earlier this week.  Diagnosed monday w/ blighted ovum @ 8 wks 5 days which was my fist u/s and OB apt.  So DR recommended Cytotec rather than D & C because early dates, nothing in the sac and felt it was better to avoid the surgery. The sac was 15mm and my levels were at 21,000. I had a D & C once before  w/ my first miscarriage that was diagnosed at 11 wks about 4 years ago. I had a second miscarriage a year later at 6 wks 4 days and used cytotec then, which was awful, emotionally more than pain, though that was no picnic either... 

 

Anyhow, took the cytotec last night @ 8PM, inserted vaginally 4 pills and aside from some intense cramping at about 10PM, nothing else. No bleeding, nothing as of yet. Dr's instructions are to repeat @ 24hours if no bleeding incurs which means I have to go through the entire process again tonight, which I am not looking forward to. Just curious, has anyone else followed this regimen? If so what were your experiences. I've mentally ready to move on and hoped this would be done with this weekend, but now I'm scared this is going to turn into a long drawn out process w/ a D & C  which I was trying to avoid in the first place. Someone please tell me they had success with round 2.....

I am in the same exact boat you are.  I had the 2nd dose on Thursday afternoon.  2 hrs later I had some cramping and bleeding.  Everything stopped yesterday and I didnt pass hardly anything.  It is so frustrating.  It looks like I will be having a D&C now.  I go back to the dr on Tuesday : (

I do not have any advice but just wanted to say that i am sorry for all that you are going through! ((hugs))

My OB and I discussed cytotec at my appt on Friday and he said that the cytotec helps things along once they have started, but they won't make the m/c happen if your body isn't ready yet.  He said he wouldn't prescribe it yet because my sac is still attached to my uterus and the cytotec will not be effective.  I obviously have no idea if that is what is going on for any of you ladies... but I just thought I would share.  So sorry for you loss, and I hope things start to happen so you can start healing soon.
