Trouble TTC

Regular Yearly Exam

It's about that time again and I wondered if you do a pap with your RE or go back to your regular OBGYN.  Is there a reason to do it either way?

Re: Regular Yearly Exam

  • I personally go to OB since they've been doing it before RE, and will do it after RE.  They send a report to RE if needed (only need it soon for IUI since I had an abnormal pap last year).  Plus I think with everything going on at RE that they're almost too busy for something so simple and routine.

Like I wouldn't go to a five star restaurant if I was getting grilled cheese, ya know?

  • I think I'll just go to the OB and be a normal patient for a day. :)

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

That's kinda what I was thinking!  Thanks.

  • Some insurance companies won't cover routine care like a pap at a specialist. That is also something to consider when deciding whether or not to go to your OB.
