Microdose Lupron Flare Protocol Response

Hi Everyone,

I was on this board about a year ago while my husband and I were undergoing IVF #1 (Antagonist Protocol) which was a fail.  We took a break from trying to conceive in 2010 while we were going through some other personal issues.  We recently started IVF #2 using the Microdose Lupron Flare Protocol (started stimming 6 days ago) and I had my second monitoring appointment today.  It seems there are 2 measurable follicles and some small ones on the left ovary.  I started with lupron twice a day and 150 Gonal F but after 3 days of stimming and only one measurable follicle it was increased to 300 gonal f and 150 Menapur.  I feel like I am responding much more slowly this time around and am worried that this protocol may not be working for me.  With our first IVF cycle I had a good number of eggs retrieved wbut there was a problem with the maturity of them and so we had a couple of good ones to transfer but nothing left over to freeze.  This is probably why our RE recommended this protocol but I thought I would reach out to this group to understand if this response seems normal.  The nurse says it is still early.. but I am a little worried given how well I responded on lower doses of gonal f during ivf #1.

 Thanks for your help!

Re: Microdose Lupron Flare Protocol Response

  • I am not familiar with MDL.  I did post a few questions on SAIF and PAIF regarding protocols for individuals with DOR andy many responded by stating that MDL worked for them.

My body did not respond well to Lupron.  My RE agreed that the Lupron over-suppressed me.  We'll be using Ganirelix for IVF#2.

I wish I was full of information and had more to share.  So sorry.

  • I was on microdose lupron for IVF#3 and I'm currently using Microdose lupron for IVF#4.  I definitely stimmed slower with IVF#3 than I did with IVF #1 (antagonist) and IVF#2 (luteal phase lupron), but my quality was much better with IVF#3 than the previous two cycles.  I was told slow and steady wins the race -- you want all of your embies to grow together rather than having a burst of several follicles and the others end up not catching up to the lead follicles.  I hope even though you are stimming slower that the maturity and quality of your embies is great!
