What's for dinner?

I would never post this on FB because none of my IRL friends would believe me but...lately I've been cooking!  When DH met me, my idea of cooking was mixing a can of chili into a pot of noodles and sprinkling pre-shredded cheese on top.  Don't get me wrong, I know good food and love to eat, but I just hate to cook.  Well now that S is eating food I have been motivated to cook and I am actually starting to enjoy it!  Last night I made a turkey spinach casserole and DH didn't need to drown it in ketchup.  The night before it was grilled salmon, steamed veggies and risotto (on the stove instead of in the microwave Wink )  So...looking for ideas...what is everyone making for dinner tonight?

  • Nothing tonight. DH is bringing home pizza since we're going out and we're feeding the babysitter (my sister and her kids) before we go.

Although I too have been cooking more recently. I guess being a mom now brings that out. We had black bean burgers last night...delicious.

  • I don't cook on the weekends....OH WAIT....I don't cook during the week either :)

Seriously, I may cook twice a week; and if I do it'll be something simple like spaghetti, steak,....something fast.  I have a long commute and don't get home until 6:15.  Stirr fry is usually fast too... veggies, meat, little bit of soy sauce, salt & pepper.

  • Typically I do cook.. but tonight is hot dogs ; ) need to fatten up my little munchkins.  But I was thinking about making homemade meatballs & sauce... but I might wait till tomorrow.

Puckchick - homemade burgers?  would you be willing to share the recipe?  That sounds yummy!!!

  • We're going to a friend's house and grilling salmon and veggies. Yum!!! Betty Jane may get her first taste of fish!
  • Nice!

Last night was beef stew!  Margaux loves her veggies soaked in meat juice, so I made the classic meat/potato/carrot dealie.

It takes, like, three hours or so but most of that is simmering.

Mmmm that sounds yummy but I'd have to run to the store to buy beef and S is on his 4th hour of napping today...all he ever does is sleep! Angry
