Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Feeling guilty

I got assigned a 12 hour mandatory overtime shift today on my day off, so LO had to go to an extra day of daycare this week. One of my co-workers volunteered to split the day with me - so now I'm only working 6 hours instead of 12.

I was planning on meeting up with a friend after I get off to meet her new baby, and then going out to ride my horse.

For some reason I am feeling super guilty about leaving LO at daycare all day while I run around by myself.

I'm also going to a Zumba class tonight with a friend/

I know I need some me time, but why do I feel so guilty about it? Anyone else struggle with this?

I also don't want SO to get resentful that I am always doing stuff for myself while he stays at home to watch LO. Even though he encourages me to go and do things, I still feel a little bad about it.

Re: Feeling guilty

  • Awww... I understand. When I get to go out and do things on my own, I always feel like I should be with DD. So when I do get back home to her, I always spend some extra time with her, whether it's playing or just snuggling.

  • Oh I know this struggle well and I still haven't found a happy medium. I am that mother who takes her LO to an all girls lunch get together because of it!

  • As long as you and SO have a balance of each getting "me" time, no reason to feel guilty!
